Only about
an inch or so Mike and most of it melted. But everything was white this morning. I just want spring to come back.
Have a good rest of the day.

I'm glad you didn't get a lot of snow, Karen.
Here in Maine, it's that time of year where we get a little bit of snow, and then it quickly melts away. Then we get a little bit more snow a while later, and it melts away again.

Hi Karen. It snowed about
an inch or so here the other night (i.e. Connecticut)...but it did melt away by the end of the day. It was so weird seeing it in April! How much did you get? This is still fairly normal for you, right?

We got a light dusting of snow here last night, although it's all melted now.

HI Cass,
Yes it is normal, well, it happens. Last year at this time we had a lot of snow still. But this past week it was snowing about
an inch at night and melting during the day. Today we still have snow in shaded areas. The sun keeps trying to come out but there are high thin clouds. But at least it isn't as cold as it has been. Today is the first day in about
a week that isn't real windy. I really don't like when it is windy. Today seems fairly calm.
How have you been Cass? Haven't seen you around for a bit. I hope you have been well.
Hugs, Karen...

Today, I spent all day in the house I live in. And for much of the day, I commented to online forums such as this one.

I went to my routine dermatology appointment this morning ( I was kind of surprised they were still doing this), got gas and went to Walmart. That's about
as exciting as things are going to get for the next few days. Our statewide stay at home order eases up on Monday and I'm not really sure what that means, especially as the more populated counties are extending it until May 8th. I crocheted so much last weekend that I hurt my arm! Does that make it a sport? I still get this nagging feeling that I should be doing something productive with this time, but I don't know what.
My 94 year old mother lives in a cul de sac in Southern Cal. Every Friday, she and some on the other women who live in the cul de sac would go out for coffee. Now they bring their own coffee and sit 6 feet away from each other in the middle of the cul de sac every Friday.

Kathy that is such at nice this thing your Mom does!!!
I know what you mean about
being productive.
However, self care is important, so that "list of things when I have time".
The things you thought about
at lunch when your were working. "If I could only stop working"
What is on your list?
Something in the house you wanted to change
accent wall, terra cotta, yellow, green ??
new curtains
Books on your shelf, you always wanted to read.
Crosswords you stacked on your desk?
Start to minimize
Clean out/organize your sewing, crochet, embroidery, etc. stuff
Unfinished embroidery projects
DVD sets un
opened!!
work on projects while watching
Cook books you bought, but never used.
I have done a few of these, unfinished embroidery, minimizing and reading are the most comforting so far for me.
Peace and stay well

Hey Kathy
How cool the aging ladies of So Cal are! If I have to live that long hope I have their positive mindset.
I have been bearing my husbands bad mood, constant negativity.
Trying to keep it together.
Had a good phone interview Thursday- she said I would be moving on to the next step but didn't hear from anyone on Friday. Really needing to be employed for mental as well as financial reasons.
Trina,
Have done extensive reading, purged closets, cooking elaborate meals. Bought some yarn and a crochet hook today. Made a practice square. On to a small blanket which is about
all I can handle. Been binging on made for Netflix series....ehhhh
Pitmom- you've been in my thoughts. Hope all is going ok.
Karen and HT- thinking of you as well

Weary, good luck with the upcoming job interview.
Today I have been doing "five minute jobs" - those little things that only take a few minutes but you never get around to doing. Like taking my spools of thread out of the zip lock bag and organizing them into the plastic spool box I got a while ago. Or cleaning behind my dresser - it was like a treasure hunt! I kind of lost my oomph this evening and I have been feeling generally anxious about
nothing specific, so I have been crocheting and binge watching youtube, which sort of helps. I am going to try some valerian tonight to see if I get a better night's rest.
Stay safe everyone

With the shelter-in-place orders continuing, the days and night have been blending together strangely... sometimes I don't even remember what day it is or if it's the weekend (which makes little difference).
I just hope that the anti-lockdown protests that are planned here don't have the ironic "unintended consequences" of extending the stay-at-home.

Still here, still healthy-ish. Tree pollen is starting here. We've had a lot of rain, so it does help with that at least. We've been colder than we should be...almost out of kerosene...one electric oil filled radiator bit the dust...sigh.
Lisa and I have been tearing through Dan Brown books (he authored The Divinci Code) and his Inferno is about
a threat of a pandemic! Not sure we should have read that one just now...lol.
The Spring bulbs are finishing up (we had a freeze which took some away) but the Spanish and English Blue Bells are starting to bloom now along with the lilac bush. The azalea is late this year and the colombines have nice buds on them. The honesty is fading and the round disc seed pods should be abundant this year. Tomorrow is to be sunny in the mid sixties...but then more rain...and hopefully and end to this pattern with sun and warmth on the way.
Cleaned up the living room today, shook out the rug, swapped the chairs at the dining table with one's my neighbor was discarding. Redid the display on the shelf in the living room above the t.v. 'Busy work' as my Mom would call it.
My daughter is frustrating me to no end. Home from detox less than 2 weeks and "did two shots" hoping it would help her sleep...even though she's on Buspar! I can only shake my head in bewilderment.
Hoping everyone is having peaceful days.

Keep 💪.
Am a bit jumbled tonight. It cold wet. It late. On recliner with snuggle blanket. Expletive old man! I. Crash on it these days. Me mate put me loungroom door back up. Been pulling up lino in back hall. I wtecked it yrs ago with stacks of paint. It glued down...a bugger ot been.
Broke down an old dead flat screen tv and recycled it. Took an hr last night.
Awaiting wheels. Nothing on the grapevine yet.
Be good. HT

Jaimie a thought. What if you heated the tiles with an iron
Lay down a cotton cloth sit on the floor
And slowly run it back and forth
A friend of mind back in the day, did that to soften the tar glue on abspestis tiles in n.v a basement
Peace stay well all

Hello, All. I've been really down this week. My youngest daughter is moving out this weekend and is going two states away (about
2.5 hours.) She has been going to college there and has found an apartment with a friend. She has been home for the past 6? weeks doing her college classes online. This time her leaving is really bothering me..because I know she won't be back for breaks anymore. I'll probably be fine after we move her in but it has been dragging me down right now. I think I'm depressed both about
losing her and being alone again.
Next, to cheer myself up, I did order a book from Amazon. Actually, it is a guided journal titled "Becoming" by Michelle Obama. I haven't read her book yet, but just the idea of journaling off of preset questions really peaked my interest. So, I'm probably going to start that tomorrow. I used to journal all the time growing up and through my thirties, but I dropped it long ago. So, I think this will be a nice treat and distraction for myself.
I hope the rest of you are still doing well! Cass

Weary, maybe you should call them if you don't hear from them soon.
Paul T, I know how you feel. It's all so surreal. I so miss the routine of getting up and going to work. Every day seems the same...
Jaime, Bnot is right about
using an iron. I peeled off old tiles by putting a thin cloth over the floor and then putting my iron on it. It peeled the tile off in a few minutes.
My body is totally out of whack...I use to do moderate to high intensity exercise. Well, I tried to do some exercise today, and my body literally said no, and I felt so disjointed when I tried to.
I's so strange that I lost my physical endurance. Ever since this stay at home order, I lost my motivation to lose weight as well. My therapist told me not to push myself and just do want I feel like doing.
I'm physically and emotionally off kilter. The only thing I enjoy doing is walking, but the weather isn't nice.

Hi Cass,
Do let us know how the book is. I love Michelle Obama.
I am sorry your daughter is leaving. But 2.5 hours isn't all that bad I don't think. It would be worth a drive home for the weekend I would suspect. Maybe wishful thinking.???
I am glad you popped in. Know we are always here if you need. Have a good night and a good rest of the week.
Hugs, Karen...

Hi, Karen. Thanks for your quick reply! You are absolutely right. 2.5 hours away really isn't too far. In my mind I know that and I keep reminding myself of it. But nevertheless, it has made me feel so sad. She is my youngest and I guess this is just a new beginning or new chapter of being alone. Perhaps if we were not all quarantined in, it would effect me as much. I guess its something I need to just deal with.
I will let you know about
the book/journal. In fact, I was just thinking about
it. They are not necessarily personal or emotional questions that she chose for her readers to reflect on and write about
. They are a bit more general such as: "Describe your childhood home. What are some of the details that stand out the most? What made your home different from your friends' homes." Do you think instead of a book club idea, anyone would be interested in a writing club. Perhaps maybe work on 2 or 3 questions a week and share with each other? It would definitely get our minds off of the pandemic and might be fun! I'm not sure exactly where/how we could share (I'm
open to suggestions.) I just thought I'd put it out there. Let me know your thoughts.
Last, thank you for reminding me that you are always here. I haven't been as much a contributor as reader, but this has always been the place that I visit the most. Fondly, Cass

Hi Cass, both my sons went off to college, came back, left again, came back and so on and I got empty nest syndrome every time so I understand how you are feeling about
your daughter. Right now they are both gone, which is unfortunate during this stay at home time since I am here alone. At least it is much easier to communicate with them than it was when I was in college (collect calls to the parents every Sunday night). Hang in there.

Cass,
I think your idea about
a writing club is cool. Maybe start a thread. It is up to you. If not, maybe we can email. Think about
it. The forum has been kind of slow, but I think there are a lot of readers.
Kathy,
I hope you have a lovely day. Raining here, suppose to be nice tomorrow. You are right, communication is much easier now. I remember those collect calls.
Have a good day you two.

Supposed to work from home, but it's hard to be productive.
I'm wondering how effective remote work is for most people, not to mention remote study for kids in school. I'm hearing it's not working especially well for the latter, but then I don't have kids and can't really weigh on on that...

Hi Paul. I am working from home as well with two part time jobs (I got laid off from my primary.) I do have an adult daughter here...so I don't have to worry about
little ones. Personally, I find that I get a lot more done at home than I do at work. I have lost the major disruptions of telephone calls, staff calling me to help solve issues and just normal day to day chit chat (although I do miss that!) Also, I feel more productive because I can see what I am getting accomplished without the distractions. Personally, I love it!
Karen, thanks for the feedback. I will start a thread and see if anyone wants to participate. I think it will be fun writing our own responses plus getting to read with others wrote. I will do this today!
Cass
