but i do care.
My time here on hw is becoming less,
i don't offer as much as i use to.
It is cold, turtle is tired,

Jamie, struggling with depression is exhausting. Be gentle with yourself.

Pitmom, I have a gardening question. The rule of thumb up here is not to plant outside until Memorial day, but can I put perennial bulbs in earlier? I am itching to get going!

3 weeks ago when suddenly I needed to change therapist... so while floating in the mud of this, I decided mud is not so bad.

Hello everyone,

Went to doctor yesterday because I had some pain urinating. They did a urine test. Today they called to tell me that there was no sign of infection but they said that there was traces of blood in my urine so they are doing more tests on that. I am a male so I figured that UTI would be unlikely. They told me to take this stuff called Azo and it seems to be working. I am wanting to know what is causing this so I can go back to normal. This frankly makes me depressed. Hopefully tomorrow they will let me know what is wrong with me!

Buena, I potted my asiatic lily bulbs in March and put them outside. I figured since the rest of them are in the ground out there, why not?? They're sprouting nicely, right in time with the others (some also in pots). The 'danger' of planting what are either annuals or 'tender perennials' is frost. Mass plantings can be lost but single/pots can be covered or brought inside. I don't transplant veggies until Mother's Day, but seeds, bulbs or hardy perennials are a 'go' for me rather early.

Its ok to be down, depressed and no wanting to go anywhere. You may not even want to get out of bed.

We all feel that more than we would like to admit.

It sounds as if you have situational depression.

I strongly suggest you tell the doc you are seeing how you feel!
Usually Docs want you mentally well as possible. You heal faster

Rain, rain, go away! I want/need to get outside in some sunshine! Before the mosquito invasion.

My lettuces are sprouting! I'm always so excited to see the veggies start up. I've spotted more flower buds on the transplanted strawberries. Won't be long now till the type of tomato I want to grow will be in the garden centers for purchase...then the beds will be fully planted.

I divided the cat mint and have transplanted/swapped two of them with the d'oro day lilies that were growing on the side of the house. The sumac trees are filling in to the point that I couldn't even see the lilies and they weren't getting much sun. Since the cat mint blooms so much earlier, I think they'll do well in the 'new' location and the lilies will like being in full sun more. I have 3 more pots of divisions to give away...hoping one of my neighbors will be interested in taking them off my hands. I also used the nursery pots from the French marigolds that adorn the veggie beds and potted up some of the hyacinth bean seeds I harvested from last year's blooms. I should have plenty to give away for Mother's Day to anyone who is looking for vining plants that look gorgeous all season but don't reseed to become weeds!

HT...I live without meds...too many side effects...I'm praying for you and your transition from one med to another. I so enjoy seeing you here...sharing your triumphs day by day. I wish more people would understand that just remaining on the planet for one more day is indeed a triumph!

Thanks, Pitmom. We had a bunch of snow here this week and more to come tomorrow, so I think my bulb planting question is moot. Can't dig yet. I get very impatient this time of year.

Now that the days are longer I am stopping the Abilify that I was taking all winter. I just don't want to be on 3 different antidepressants. I am hoping that I do OK.

I just signed up to be a volunteer "Weed Warrior" at one of our local state parks. It will be nice to get outdoors somewhere different from here and meet new people. I am really looking forward to being able to sing in a choir again, but that may be the last thing to come back since in a choir you sit close to each other and blow air all over. I really hope to go back to the one I was in when the lockdown happened because we were only a week away from our concert and we had a beautiful piece that we were going to perform. The conductor promised that we would do it again - I hope so.

My sugar snap peas have sprouted! So have the black seeded Simpson lettuces! Still waiting for the cucumbers to show and waiting for the Sun Gold cherry tomatoes to show up in the garden centers. The hardy kiwi has sprouted new growth, too! There are flowers on some of the strawberry plants that I moved into the new beds.

The daffodils are winding down and since we're supposed to be in the low to mid seventies tomorrow, the tulips will probably be done, too. It's been a nice, slow spring in the bulb garden. Weeks of enjoyment, even if most of it was through the window.

The lilac is loaded with buds awaiting their turn and the azalea is starting to show pits of hot pink. The hostas are sending up the spikes that will unfurl into huge leaves. All of the different lilies are sending up substantial foliage and the milkweeds are beginning to poke through the soil, too.

I've two fountains going. My fairy fountain has a new (to me) pillar to rest on this year. It brings her much closer to the window, so I get to enjoy her from inside as well, so long as I can have the window open a bit. Still trying to figure out placement for the other where I'll be able to enjoy it the most.

Spray painted a little metal shelving unit from pink to 'Sail Blue' so it goes with the trellises in the new beds. I'm really trying to just let the plants have center stage this year. The eye reads blue as 'cool', so I'm hoping this also helps when the temps climb. Part of the patio looks so bare, because I have the space reserved for when I can move the amaryllis pots outside. So hard to remind myself of this as I pass the garden centers! My brain says 'Simplify' but my eyes say 'Fill it to the brim!'. The only watering I hope to have to do is the two pots of Boston Ferns, the two pots of pansies and the veggie beds!

My cushions will make it another season without replacements, I think. MIL gave me two beach umbrellas...one blue, one green...which will work with my bigger crank up one that has tropical leaves on it.

Just one more metal table to paint with the blue to cover the pink and I think I'm set. Now, we just need these April showers to settle down a bit!

Y'all may remember my issues with Meals On Wheels not wanting to serve my father.... well, somehow we got thru all the red tape to the right person and his meal delivery starts Friday! I can't begin to tell you how relived I am.

I also got word that my brother has scheduled both of them for their first Covid-19 vaccines this week -- I'd been under the impression that neither of them were going to get vaccinated... more relief!

So, it's a pretty day here and I'm going outside to weed. I grow carnivorous plants (Sarracenia), and you have to cut down last years pitchers to clear the way for the new to grow...I've done 2 pots worth, one more I need to finish today. Then I will be more than ready for a shower. Already did the gym, a walk, and the grocery store today. Y'all have a great day!

Hi Everybody!!!

I hope you are all doing well. Cloudy here and kind of cold. I keep hearing that four letter word, SNOW. There I said it. March was pretty nice, I thought April would be too. Though yesterday afternoon wasn't bad. Sunny.

Pitmom, you never cease to amaze me. I am so jealous. Just kidding. But I am in awe of your yard. I just don't have it in me to take care of gardens anymore. I have some perreniels that basically take care of themselves. I had some herbs. Lavender, sage and greek oregano. They got mowed last year by somebody who didn't know any better. I was hoping that the lavender would come back but it isn't looking good, though it is still early here.

I am so happy you have your flowers to enjoy. And I know that they are work. But you give it your all and that says a lot.

I used to have a venus fly trap but it didn't live long. I'm pretty sure it is something that I did or didn't do.

I'm sorry you are so tired. I'm weary too. We've been thru much together for so long here. What would we do without your support? Stay strong my friend. Slow & Steady wins the race- you can do it.

gettingby and bnot- always appreciative of your support too.

Made it thru my sons birthday and death anniversary. It was rough but I still live and breathe. Have had some intense anxiety but I still find myself here in the depression forum.

Like reading about everyone's spring planting. I am indulging too. Something about getting my hands in the new earth of the season feels healing.

I am glad you made it through the anniversaries. It isn't easy. You are a warrior. The anxiety stinks I know. Been going through it myself.

I agree with you about getting your hands in the soil. Now is the time for rebirth. Healing too. You will get there my dear. You never give up and that shows.
