Hello all. Checking in. Still living in limbo...part time there, part time here. Too many fights with Lisa. She's so deep in her grief and not wanting to change anything in the house. Says it's too soon...she's worried how it will affect her sisters...so many 'reasons' that sound reasonable to her. I've tried to explain how I feel, having left everything behind, how nothing is familiar to me.

I had the presence of mind to have my AA Big Book with me, at least and sat down and did a 4th step (others followed naturally) but it really made me stop and think about it all. Next day, I gathered up my French Country decorating magazines and put them in a bag...put away the pillows I dress the bed with and didn't make the bed up...pushed the shower curtain all the way over the way hers was when I 'came on the scene'...blank slate, start from scratch. Now, I'm no longer reminded daily of what I left behind, what's 'missing', how things used to be...because all of that is yesterday and no longer applies at this present time.

So far, she has decided that she does, in fact, like the new shower curtain and she likes it pulled across where the dahlia blossom can be fully viewed. It's a start and I'll take it!

Sinking again...fighting to stay above water. Why is this so hard? I've realized that I have no investment in this home, monitarily or otherwise, so no 'pride' in it. I've contributed nothing to it and am severely restricted (for the time being) in making any changes. Frustrating to the point of debilitating. Boredom, uselessness. Can't even cook the foods I pride myself as being my 'specialties' (she won't eat them). She won't watch the news or entertaining t.v., so I've my nose in a book while she has sports related shows on. Why is this so hard?

I am sorry about your beloved pet. It is hard when we lose them. But you are right, he is no longer in pain.

It has been really windy here and my dog has been scared. I put a thunder shirt on her yesterday and it seemed to calm her some. Today she is back to her old obnoxious self.

This year did fly by. Christmas is almost upon us.

I am in California visiting my mother for Christmas. My brother and oldest son are here. Pretty slow activity wise as my mother is 95 but she gets around pretty good. Maybe I’ll take her for a manicure tomorrow

Well I had my first ketamine treatment this morning. They start with a low dose, 60 mg, in two injections 10 minutes apart. After the first one I felt woozy and my vision was jiggly for about 8 minutes, then I snapped out of it. The same thing happened after the second injection. So I just sat there in the lazy boy and thought of all my little neurons getting new receptors for one of the brain chemicals that helps depression. They said I was not very sensitive to the ketamine and would increase the dose the next time. I must say I was a little disappointed. My next visit is on Saturday and I’ll let you know how that goes.
