I was thinking about
the depression hotlines (often called suicide hotlines) -- they would have suggestions for ways to make therapy an option for you. Hard to say what that might be - money, transportation, etc could be limiting you. Maybe it can be made an option.
The point of therapy would be to help you find the ways to overcome the last 20 years -- ways, methods and tools which it is almost impossible to find for yourself when still in the midst of things.
A hotline could also help point you to discussion groups, either in person or online, where you could hook up with people in similar situations.
A third possibility is to find self-help books, maybe at the local (free!) library and see how you can change. Nothing, of course, will change the past, but it might help change your feelings and reactions to the past.
The first step is HOPE, which you have at least a seed of as evidenced by you reaching out here. Nurture that seed, grow that HOPE. Find a way to SURVIVE and OVERCOME.
Do you work? How do you spend your days?
