went to see my dr to day - & he has put me on CITALOPRAM 20MG one

a day! he said they shoul not give me Side effects? wish me luck!

what are you on or have been on & did they help? how long till you feel

better?

Hi muchafraid, Good luck with the Celexa I hope it helps for you.  I am not to sure how knowing what everyone has taken in the past and what they are on now is going to help you.  These antidepressants work differently for each of us.  How long until you feel better after starting an antidepressant?  Is also different for each of us...it can be days or weeks, the general guideline is that therapeutic level takes 4-6 weeks for an antidepressant to reach its full effect.

I have been on many antidepressants though the years and several of them didnt work for me.  I wont however, post about my bad experiences with those medications as I do understand that it isnt typical of the medication, they just didnt work for me but they do work for others.  I dont want to discourage someone from taking a certain medication that their physician may of prescribed for them just because I had a bad experience with it.  Just my opinion...

I took Celexa for a little over a year (actually, I took my last tablet today).  I originally began taking it for abdominal pain, and then I developed depression and an eating disorder.  I am switching to Effexor because I can't go above 20 mg of Celexa without experiencing akathesia (extreme restlessness).  I would feel like I was ready to jump out of my skin, and I had to be in constant motion.  It wasn't a bad side effect, it was just extremely annoying, and I guess this side effect isn't that common.  Other than that, I have no complaints, and if I could tolerate it at higher doses, I might not be switching meds.  Hope it goes well for you.

HI, this is my first time here at the depression site. I have Crohns disease and irratable bowel and Fybromyalgia and now diagnosed with depression. This has stemmed from the CD disease and irratable bowel and Fibro.I have been taking Celexa since september of this year and it worked great at the beggining yet made me drowsy at the beggining and since I upped it im a little sleepy. I kinda feel like I dont want to be in my skin but not sure if its the celexa or depression. My Phsyc docter wants me to keep busy so that I dont start getting down. I take the celexa at night as it makes me sleepy and feel not to bad most days.I believe its 30 mg a day or night.I wish I could get motivated.

Well they gave me side effects alright, so I had to come off them after three weeks. I could not see very well, could not focus and had blurred vision. Also panic attacks and sleeplessness.

And if they do not give side effects, then why was that information sheet enclosed inside the box of medication tablets? Which included all of the known side effects (but which I did not look at until the effects materialised, as I didn't want to influence how I felt to begin with) and believe me it is a big list!
