Shift, you are most welcome for the information

The feeling you get initally (Where you feel great) could simply be expectation. You have something that you have been told will make you better and because you expect it to, it does but the feeling only lasts for a short period of time so potentially, this is what you are describing. As for treatment, I believe that meds are simply a coping mechanism for depression. For some people it allows them to cope to the point where they feel they are able to deal with the root cause by themselves
Darren, you are correct in the fact that antidepressant normally take 4-6 weeks to reach their effective level in a persons body. This always does depend on the person though. I would however disagree that medication (antidepressants) are a coping mechanism for depression. Depression in a lot of people is a chemical inbalance of serotinin in their brain...this is an actual medical condition and cannot be helped. Antidepressants restore the levels of serotinin, which is not something that a person with depression can just do on there own. Depression isnt something that we cause to ourselves.
