Hi Natalie, I am glad that your taking medication and it is helping for you...that is a wonderful sign. Counseling is always a good choice to help figure out what some of these feelings/problems maybe be coming from. As to your question of what is a physician?...well, I wonder if your having your Primary Care Doctor prescribing your antidepressant? If so then you may want to look into getting a referral to a Psychiatrist who would be better versed in these type of meds and also who would be able to give you a proper diagnosis (if you havent reached one as yet).
There are all differant types of physicians (as you know), being a counselor would be someone who has a Master's or Psychologist degree so they are not allowed by law to prescribe any type of medications. To become a physician or Psychiartist from that point they would have to have a doctorate degree in which is an additional 5-7 years of postgraduate studies/work.
However, some private offices where you may see a counselor and not a psychiatrist there the counselor may feel that you need medication and recommend this to one of the psychiartists who is above them in the office and sometimes they will write a script for that patient without ever seeing them. This is bad for the doctor to do as it puts his/her licence on the line should anything ever go wrong with the patient and they are writing prescriptions for a person they havent ever seen. It is also very bad for the patient as the doctor doesnt know the patient and cant prescribe the right meds for that person. But it does happen...
Sorry, I am just full of knowledge on this stuff. I worked in mental health for years and am still working on getting my MS degree in psychology. I too totally understand how it is when your working somewhere you dont enjoy. So many people end up in jobs like that...most likely more than 90% I'm sure. I guess it all comes down to providing for yourself/family and just having to get by while you can. I too get board easily...with more then just jobs (cars, men ,LOL!). Dont let the job situation get you down because you cant find the right one for you at this point in time. Maybe sit back and re-evaluate your job skills and what your really want to do with your future. Perhaps, take some night classes if you can afford to or take out a student loan...I dont know. But you have many, many options open to you dear, you are still so young....I am sure you have heard that over and over. But look at me, I am 33 almost 34 yrs old and going to school (well, I am taking a break right now) but I am doing it...and know that I dont have to be chained to the same boring life forever. You dont either sweetie.
Have a wonderful day
