There just don't seem to be any answers anymore just despairing

I had a few good days.  4th of July turned out great.  BBQ with my boys and one son's girlfriend and went to fireworks after which were spectacular.  Haven't had a good 4th like that in years.  Was a little down yesterday so I decided to go to the movies by myself which I have never done before and it was fine.  I am no longer afraid to do that.  Problem is the movie was very sad and depressing so I came out of the theater feeling worse.  I did a little shopping and then went home and made dinner.  I'm all alone this weekend so feeling very lonely.  In fact, last night I felt so bad I called a depression hotline.  Boy what a mistake.  The counselor on duty sounded like an old woman and she was not very sympathetic and no help at all.  I couldn't wait to get off the phone with her.  I though hotlines were supposed to help people.  I am going out to dinner with a friend tonight so that will be OK.  I had  plans to go out today - garden shop and book store but I am so tired and it is so hot out I just don't have the energy.  I just don't feel that there are any answers anymore to coping with this depression and lonliness.  I think my only hope is to go to a retirement community.  Not an easy task as I have to get my son w/epilepsy settled in his own place then I have to sell my house which won't be easy and I just moved here 3 yrs ago.  Also, I am at the youngest age you can be to go to a retirement community. Well, I just needed to vent - hoping tomorrow will be a better day.

Thanks Kitt for your reply.  The house I live in now is in the same community so I still have the same familiar grocery, stores, etc.  I really like my house - it is very comfy and cozy.   The retirement community I am interested in has many, many activities, events, social things to do as well as fitness center and beautiful pool.  There is also several dining rooms depending on how casual or formal you want to be.  The units are apartments that vary in size according to cost and all have kitchens and in laundry units.  It is very new.  They also have assisted care if you become sick or need more help.  The even have a store if you run out of milk or eggs.  It is really a great place and I would have people and activities all the time.  I would go tomorrow if I could get my son settled and sell my house.  Well, that isn't possible right now but at least I have a goal in mind.

I am sorry you did not get the proper help from the hotline. I have never called on myself but I just might just to see what they are saying. I have heard that before that they really do not help.

They need to come to this site to get qualified people to answer those phones!!


Going out by yourself is scary isn't it? I made myself go to a sit down dinner one night..I was very uncomfortable and could not wait to get out of there.
