Hello,

I've been on Cymbalta for almost 3 weeks now and I've allready started to begun to notice a change in my mode and thinking. I don't seem to be worrying as much which was my main problem and have started to feel like there actually is hope out there. Yes, I seem to be putting on a little weight but I'd rather my mind being right than being concerned about a few pounds. I do get a little sleepy with it, my doctor recommended I take it at night.

Hey Red,

I am on the Cymbalta too and I think it is a good med but I really hate the weight gain.  My pdoc says it is not known for causing weight gain so I put her on it too.  LOL

I'm looking for info on Cymbalta, have just started it. Can someone tell me what the name of the old thread was?

My doctor told me Cymbalta will help me lose weight, I sure don't need to gain any more.

Okay, now that I've read the old posts, there were a few of you that had just started taking Cymbalta. I was wondering if any of you are still around and if you could tell me how it's working for you. Do you think it's helping you at all? I know that these drugs are supposed to take some time but I think it's already helping me, and it's only been days at a low dose. Maybe my body really needed it, maybe it's the placebo effect.


I was a little concerned regarding the post that said it gave someone major stomach problems, I have Crohn's and don't need any more problems, lol. I've been having a little stomach upset, nothing big, I'm just very attuned to these types of symptoms and they make me nervous.

Hi Judy,

I also have Crohns and have been on Cymbalta for a little over 5 weeks. I believe the meds have helped me. I'm not 100% but I'm doing alot better than I was without it. I have not experienced the weight gain as of yet, however, I have experienced the lack of sex drive. All in all, I cannot complain, as it seems to be working. The doctors told me that it takes 4 to 6 weeks for it to fully take affect, so hopefully it work even better for me in the next few weeks. I'm currently on 90 miligrams, don't be alarmed, I'm also 6'6" and weigh 275 pounds, my doctor said that I need that much of a dose for a guy my size.

6'6' and 275lbs. My husband is 5'4" about 150 lbs and is on 120 milligrams. He thinks this is ok as the doctor prescribed it. He is also on a 50 durasegic patch and Ambien. I told the doctor he sleeps about 18+ a day with just the Cymbalta. Why she would prescribe Ambien stumps me.

Gee, with that said maybe going up to 120 will help me. I'm not having trouble sleeping, my problem is that I'm a constant worrier of things that have not occured and of past regrets in my current relationship that I have made a mountain out of a molehill.
