Do you feel pysical pain as part of your depression?

She complains about pysical muscle and bone pain

 

I am Bipolar and I have a sister-in-law that is in a manic state right now she

doesn’t sleep well and clean house at night and watches TV on the couch, in the last 2-3 weeks she falls a sleep for only 2-4 hours a night the last two days, I have been here she has gone to bed at 6am.

I told her she needs to see a Doctor and she has but it’s only her family Doctor and he is just trying to manage the body pain. He did give her Pacsel but she has taken none...I am trying to tell her that she needs meds to help get her out of the funk she is in and it will only keep getting worse with out proper

meds,docs and sleep.

I said to her tell your family doc to recommend a councilor or psychiatrist that you could see.

 

What’s your feed back in getting the help she needs, she has no family support but me

and I am newly diagnosed as bipolar.

Being that you are newly diagnosed as bipolar, you need to worry about yourself first, just remember that.

Yes you can get physical pain from depression. That often happens.

I have fibromyalgia and I did a lot of my work at night because I slept a lot during the day. That comes with depression too. You can't function during normal daytime hours and working at night seems less stressful.

Hopefully she will talk to somebody. That is up to her I guess at this point. And like I said, don't let this worry interfere with your healing. You have to take care of yourself before you can help anybody else. But I can see why you are concerned. You are a caring person.

I often feel physical pain, too. It seems that when my depression flares, so does my back pain and other pain. I have theorized that when my depression is at it's peak, I sit around and lie around more which could cause the pain to intensify, and focus more on the negative, including the pain. I am not sure if that is why, but that is my theory.
Make sure you focus on your own illness as well. It is great that you want to help out others, but try not to get lost in the shuffle. (((((hugs)))))

You are so right Trace,

You need to keep moving around if you can, being still just stiffens up the muscles. But isn't that so much easier then said than done you guys? Sometimes I try to put on some kind of upbeat music, that helps me get moving. Softer music relaxes me too if that is what I need. I tend to need that often. I get tense easy, especially when around other people. But with the fibromyalgia and the depression, I am kind of learning to go with the flow. It is harder though when you have to work because you have to be somewhere all of the time. Do you guys work? I just can't remember. I don't anymore. I use to have a flower shop. Sometime I will tell you all about if, if you are interested.

I sometimes feel pain due to depression, but I think it may be due to tension/stress that sometime accompanies it. My chest will sometimes feel tight, especially if I have been extremely upset or crying a lot. Or I'll get headaches. I do know that I feel like I have less energy - it CAN be a challenge to keep active, but then it's also supposed to be one of the best things to do. If only it weren't so difficult.

I too had physical pain when my depression was at it's worst.

I went to my family doctor,and he treated my depression and the pain. I would go in once a week,and he would also crack my neck and work on my back since that seemed to be where the pain was worse.
But,
I learned that sometimes a Family doctor just does not cut it when it comes to depression. He basically just drugged me up. I was doing nothing to really treat the depression..so finally got into therapy by myself.

She really needs to get to a doctor that specializes in depression as in order to treat the depression they have to figure out what caused it in the first place.

I have also heard of people with physical pain with depression.
