Going off of cymbalta? need help

Hi, I am usually on the Ulcerative Colitis site.  I have a question, hope some can give their opinions.  I want to go off of my cymbalta, I'm going to tell doc but wanted to know how you did it, how it went.  I mainly went on it to try no to be so anxious, as stress is a trigger for my UC.  I fugured it might help protect my colon.  I do have some depression too, but know I can manage without meds.  I don't even know if cymbalta helped.  My moods are either real high or very low now.  I think it makes me a little depressed.  I'm on other meds for the rest of my life for UC.  So, all of the sudden, I'm getting freaked out by this med. controlling my brain.  I'm on what I think is the lowest dose, 20mg a day, (one pill).  What do you think the doc will say.  I am not going in, I want him to tell me on phone, I hate going to doctors.  Any advice is appreciated. Thanks so much Kitt, You're doctor should listen to you, that is frustrating. Have you tried other meds? My dad and husband have tried lexipro and it helped my husband but he went off 'cause he hates drugs. My dad is still on it and it works well for him. Anyhow, I want to try to go off Cymbalta, if the doc says no to me, I will do it on my own. I can't believe your dose was so high, no wonder it made you dizzy. I too have read about the withdrawl being very difficult, wish I would have read that before going on it. Good luck to you too. Life can be hard, keep on keeping on, Bellski
