I took the advice of Healing Well...

After 11 years of Crohn's Disease, IBS, Ankylosing Spondylitis, medication, and hard times, I am finally ready to admit that I am depressed. After expressing my feelings to this board, I decided to take your advice, and see a psychiatrist. And not just see a psychiatrist, but talk to them and interact with them.

I am taking Lexapro now. I have read the reviews, and to be honest, I am terrified! I have experienced very little side effects, which is very unusual considering my history with medication. Besides the nausea and slight tiredness, fortunately, there is little else to report.

I feel medication was the right choice. Thank you, Healing Well, for giving me the courage to persevere through all of this.

I am so glad to hear you found help in the forum.  You dx is almost identical to my hubby but he won't admit he has any depression.  He just won't talk about it.  I am very proud of you.  Kudos to you. 

I was on Lexapro for awhile and I did not experience any problems in getting onto it. I am glad it is going good for you.

Hi Blair,

Im so glad that you are moving forward. Always remember though that (For most people) meds will not be the complete solution. Usually some form of councelling / therapy is needed as well to help prevent the problem from returning.
