Transition from Effexor XR to Wellbutrin XL

Hi, My name is Annie. I am new to this forum. I have been suffering with postpartum depression since Sept. 2007. My first treatments were with depakote and Effexor XR and lithium. Now I am off the lithium and depakote. I did not have too much of a transition period from those; however, now I am going from Effexort to Wellbutrin and I must say I feel like I am back at square one. It is horrible, I am nauseated, extremely moody, depressed to the point I saw myself giving up. My 1 yr. old son and husband helped pull me through, since they are always in the back of my mind keeping me strong. I feel so lost and alone. I was feeling pretty darn good before the transition. Except for all the weight gain and being upset about that, I was doing so much better. Now, I feel like I am starting all over again. Has anyone else had this type of experience. I would appreciate any help to make me feel like it isn't me failiing everyone and it is the "transition" phase of this process.

Hi Annie,

Welcome to the HealingWell depression forum. I think that Sheryl is right. Once you get on the wellbutrin you will feel better. I take effexor also. I went off of it too fast one time and it was the worse thing that I have ever experienced. So this is normal. As Sheryl said, just hang in there, it will get better.
