I had my appointment with the new pulmonologist today and he was reallly nice and very, very thorough. He spent at least an hour with me, took an extensive history and answered all my questions. I couldn't be happier. He told me I was on the wrong medication. He said the azmacort is a much older and less powerful steroid and it just wasn't helping me. He put me on symbicort and gave me a sample and I used it in the office so he could be sure I knew how to use it correctly. Since I used it this morning I have not had to use my rescue inhaler at all today. I can still use the albuterol if I should need the rescue, but so far so good. He was astounded to hear the other dr. told me I didn't have asthma and just needed to lose weight. He said from all the lung tests that I certainly do have asthma and he thinks the symbicort will really help. He told me that sometimes people with asthma just have it flair up and need better treatment to contol it.So I am glad I finally have answers. Hopefully I will be able to return to my normal life (whatever that is!)
