how to know if a/d is working

im not sure if i asked this before, but ill give it a shot. how does one know that an an antidepressant is working? and how long through your experience did it take to work? thank you so much.

Everyone is different as is each med. You should start to feel less depressed and start feeling like your old self. There is no magic feeling, you just notice one day that you are more like you were when you were not depressed.

Hi Eli,

You should be feeling better within four to six weeks after taking your medication. That is when it is at it's full effect. Like Kitt said, everybody reacts differently to antidepressants. And it may take a while to find the one that is right for you.

Hi Eli, I believe I answered your other posts about taking remeron which I take. Do give it four to six weeks to fully take effect. Are you increasing your dose over these weeks? Once you are up to full dose, 45 mg I think you will really feel better. As I have said I tried about 6 different a/d meds before the remeron and that was the one that truly helped me. So give it time and I think you will notice the difference. If you are not having any bothersome side effects it will be worth the wait. Keep me posted on how it goes.

With most antidepressants they say it can take upto six weeks to have a positive affect on your mood. As Kitt said every one is different and it can take a while to find one which suits you. Like Aurora i have tried lots of different antidepressants and have yet to find one which works well for me i am currently on 150mg of Effexor xl and have just stoped taking remeron. I hope that remeron works well for you and i know a lot of people have had positive effects with this med.
