Are my mom's meds making her more depressed?!

My mom has been taking paxil and her condition seems worse. Researching the topic, I've some scary similar horror stories. I've listed the link below. Advice?

Your mom should talk to her doctor if her depression is getting worse. It might not be the medication for her.

How long has she been taking this medication? Sometimes it takes a while for the medication to come to it's full effect. Usually four to six weeks.

I know that you are very concerned about your mother, as you should be. I hope that this helps in some small way and I am sure that others will come on to comment.

Karen is absolutely right on this one. Any queries regarding medications or a worsening of her condition ought to be forwarded to a doctor. As Karen has said, there are a lot of medications out there and it might just be that your mum is taking one which isnt suitable for her.

I notice you've posted this link before, utstor. Let me assure you that there is as much good news to be found about every medication as there is bad. Working for HealingWell, I know that psychiatric medications save lives. Not every medication works for everybody, though. And sometimes people do better without them. But the net can be a scary place to research medications: tons of scary stories. For your own piece of mind, stick with scholarly and professional publications, and with what doctors tell you and your mother's actual symptoms. If the meds aren't helping, it will be clear. Talk to her doctor (if you can) and let him know your concerns.
