Checking in :)

Hello everyone!

It's been a couple months since my last post. I told you all that I was going to commit myself to healthier eating and exercise, and I feel that I'm much more on track now. I really find that exercise has helped with my depression. I have you all to thank for your words of encouragement. They really kept me going in meeting my goals.

I do however feel very nervous and anxious this week because I'm going to have a doctor's appointment and some lab work done. I thought I was doing so well with feeling calm and relaxed, but suddenly my depressive thoughts are returning :( Has that ever happened to any of you...when you think you're really getting better and then feel like you relapse when are forced to deal with a stressful situation?

It's very difficult for me to talk about this with people in my life, and I would really like to ask you all for your thoughts and prayers this week. Some reminders on things to meditate on would also be helpful.

Good Morning !  This very same thing happens to me everytime I have an appointment with my Psychiatrist.  I get so nervous as I feel like I am walking into a confrontation.............she prescribles the meds and if I do not agree I just get the standard lecture about how if I do not listen to her I will crash.

My BP is always up in her office when she checks it but never in my PCP office.

I come away feeling depressed as I am carrying another card for the old, come back next month.

Yes depression can be situational too.  Just my mornings 2 cents.

Just wanted to check back in with an update. Thank you for the positive thoughts and prayers. I made it through the doctor's appointment and everything did turn out to be OK. I've realized through this experience that my depression causes me a lot of stress and anxiety, even when dealing with situations that present no apparent threat. I'm going to try really hard to stay positive and calm to avoid feeling so scared and worried all the time. There is too much goodness and beauty in life that I'm missing out on! I know I what I need to do is let go and forgive all the trauma I've dealt with. I know they're over and its time to move on. Slowly but surely, I think I will.

Thanks, Karen I think I am already doing better. I used to be worried that I would not have enough time to accomplish everything I needed to, but recently, when I find myself in those situations, such as the extra 30 minutes that I have to use to run an errand will not destroy my world...that all is calm and all is well.

I'm still having trouble at nighttime though...when my depression is at its worst. I think it is because I would always have the boyfriend to talk to as my "last call of the day" and now that comfort of having someone to sort of "tuck me in" isn't there anymore. Does anyone else notice that certain points of the day are harder than others? Times when the loneliness and/or depression seems unbearable? Have you noticed that anything helps you to feel better during those low points?

I appreciate your kindness and thoughtful understanding, Frances. Thank you. I hope you are on your way to a speedy and healthy recovery from your surgery. The eating has been something I do when I need to be comforted, but I'm also an exercise addict, so finding the healthy balance between the two has been a challenge. The best combination I've found is moderation for both!

Thanks so much, Kitt. It's hard, but I honestly just think of this forum and all the positive support I'm getting, and it's a big help in keeping me on track. So thanks for being there
