Wellbutrin Question

Hello
My husband has been given the ok to wean off wellbutrin xl 300mg. The doc gave him 100mg generic bupropion sr tabs so that he could take 200 mg morning for week then 200 one day and 100 next for week, then 100/day for week, and so on. He said the 200 at once should not be a problem, but my husband had some hand trembling yesterday. Could the 200mg at once be the cause? Has anyone weaned off wellbutrin here and can give me some advice? Would it be better to take 100 morning and then 100 afternoon?

It's definitely the wellbutrin. I couldn't sleep when I was on it. It made me extremely anxious. It works well with another antidepressant like paxil. Paxil is good for anxiety and eases the anxiousness that wellbutrin can cause. Actually, I felt the best when I took both together. Paxil can cause weight gain though, but I think Wellbutrin cancels that side effect out. He might try taking Trazodone at night. You sleep really well on it and it has minimal side effects.

I am sorry that your husband is having such a hard time weaning off of the welbutrin. I couldn't tolerate it, I got restless leg syndrome from it. Plus it made me a little irritable. But I went off of it easy because I was taking effexor. I think they are related. Not sure.

I hope he has an easier time with this. Maybe the doctor should be called if the shaking gets too bad.
