I'm freaking,Cymbalta; paxil

Doc just lowered cymbalta to 60mg 1x daily for 2 wks, 30 mg for 2 wks, added paxil 20mg

1x daily. switching to remain on paxil.  the last 7 days not functioning, sleeping 24/7, seem to be a little more awake today, but very "sad".  Is this just a period of switching meds? I called the doc, not in until am.   Does any one know if this a normal reaction?  I pray someone can tell me asap.

Cymbalta is a toughie to withdrawal from but at least you are doing it slowly and
with the help of a Pdoc. I came off of it cold turkey, (I know...very foolish,) and I
was so freaked out I couldn't go to work for 2 days and had to go to my Pdoc. who
put me right back on it. My heart goes out to you and hopefully you will hear from
your Pdoc. soon.

Thanks Red Lighting...I really appreciate you writing back.  Geezzz, gold turkey, no way.  While I wait for the pc to call back, I'm going to research on the web for more info.  Are you doing ok now?  Are you on a different med?

I'm back on 60mg of Cymbalta-turns out it was actually helping me while the abilify
was giving me very bad side effects. So I'm back on Cymbalta only and off Abilify
completely and am feeling better. I still think I've slipped from when I first started taking
Cymbalta 6 months ago. It just doesn't seem to be working quite as well but perhaps it
was all due to me not being able to handle the abilify. We'll see. You're right about this
illness...it's a hard one to figure out...it can creep up so slowly and mask itself as other
things and I forget I have it. I'm such a deny-er. That's why I'm here so I can learn to
accept this illness and all it's mysterious components. Good luck on your web research!

sounds like a withdrawal effect. once the new meds kick in you should start to slowly improve. ps. redlightning, thx for sharing your experience. when i was on abilify i found it very useful. but we are not the same, thus it is good to share experiences. so thx. all the best to you both. with loving compassion. jamie

Thank you both for your replies, I think I'm starting to feel a little better, now not able to sleep at all?  Go figure?  Doc should be calling today.  Thanks again.

Jamie, I am so trying to keep the faith!  Thank you for your encouragement.  I just want a strong healthly body!!!!  Guess its too late for that...or is it????

Doc called to say YES these are normal emotions & will go away.  Something to look forward too!  Have a great weekend to all.
