I was on Paxil for 11 years and it worked well for me.  Recently my OB/GYN requested that I try and switch due to the weight issues, possible heart conditions and other issues.  I was scared, but thought maybe I can do this. So she switched me from Paxil 20mg to Wellbutrin(Bupropion XL) 300mg. She had me quit paxil immediately and just start taking the Bupro immediately. The withdrawal (at least I think it was) was AWFUL! Anyway, I am on day 20, and the withdrawal symptons have lessened quite a bit...BUT I am a bundle of nerves..my gut, especially at night when your laying in bed and your mind wont shut off! Anyone think I can make it on the Wellbutrin??? I am scared to death!!

I had the same thing with wellbutrin when I was on that high of a dose. I could not sleep and everything tasted wierd. I couldn't stand it. But maybe a lower dose would work for you. I could think good, that is what I liked about it, plus I lost weight. I hope that you can find what is right for you. Maybe effexor, or pristiq would work. If the side effects are too bothersome, I would let the doctor know and maybe they would do a med adjustment or switch you to something different.

agree with effexor xr. it was very useful for me at the time. the mild sedating qualities do help. i wish you well. keep speaking with your doc. will take some time with the adjustment. keep posting, with healing compassion, jamie.
