Hi Mania_saae,
I guess you aren't going to know anything until you get there. Why are you moving so far from home? Work or school? Facing new doctors is scarey. I have to do that this month. My pain management doctor retired and both my husband and I have to go to a new one. I have no clue as to whether he is going to continue my pain meds. I will find out next week. If not, I may have to find another doctor. And that isn't going to be any fun at all. I have no clue as to where to start. So wish me luck.
If you see a counselor such as a psyhologist, you don't have to worry about taking medications because they don't prescribe. But if they feel that you need them they will refer you to a psychiatrist. Psychiatrists prescribe medications, but don't counsel much.
Have you had bad side effects from medications? I have had my share. But I finally found some that don't give me bad side effects. There are a lot to choose from. They keep coming out with newer ones all the time. I just switched from 375mg of effexor a day to 100mg of pristiq. And I take abilify (which really helps) and xanax to go with it. The xanax is for anxiety and the abilify is a mood stabilizer.
I hope that you find what is the right method for you. Be it counseling or medication. I do hope to see you feeling better in the near future. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.
Hugs, Karen
