T2U - I have tried therapy, three times, first, I am not sure what you would call it, it was for ED issue that lasted 14 yrs, I never gave up the ED for another eight yrs, and I did that myself without any help. Was in that therapy for a yr and a half, but never talked about the real issues there, more food orientated.
Second was three sessions at hosp to try and get a diagnoses, not successful, as I couldn't express myself with words, so they thought nothing was wrong.
Third was six sessions, after phoning and telling them, I cant talk about the big stuff, could they cope with that, they said they could. I made it very clear, that I will stop talking, if I am backed into a corner, and someone is getting too close, they assurred me they could cope with that - well guess what happened, they couldn't cope with that.
So, me, I have given up trying, and probably never will again, has too much work to get my barriers down, and then, pull right back when someone close. Dumb thing is though, if they can just hang in there at that stage, they will have a brake through, and what they hear will blow thier minds!
I applaude anyone that can do the therapy thing though, any kind, as long as it is helping them at the time
