Hi Jonathan,
That takes a lot of practice. I have found that grounding yourself while breathing right really helps. Plus I take xanax. Convincing yourself I would think to tell yourself it is just fear that is causing the anxiety and try to overcome that.
Kitt is a good one to help with the anxiety issues. She moderates the anxiety forum and that might be a better place for you to find the answers that you are looking for. So take a few minutes and check it out. It is Anxiety and Panic.
Anxiety can have many physical symptoms. It can take the shape of many diseases, such as diabetes. I had glucose intolerance from stress related anxiety and was just under the level of having to take medication. I was lucky. It was diet controlled. But once I got rid of the stress the anxiety went away and my blood sugars became normal. Some of us have anticipatory anxiety. There are many different faces.
I hope that this helps some, there will be others along with advice.
Hugs, Karen
PS Just wanted to add a trick that I learned with the breathing. I breath in through the nose, and out through the mouth. It is called smelling the roses and blowing out the candles. It really slows your breathing and heartrate down. Practice this when you get an anxiety attack.
