Light Therapy

Hey guys,

Merry Christmas!! I know this time of year is tough....at least we have support here!

So I wanted to share with you that I got a Mood Light/sun lamp-thing :) for Christmas and I am wondering if any of you have had any experience with light therapy?

I am sitting in front of it now.....I really hope it works!

Hi Mogli. I truly hope the light does make you feel better. From reading all your posts I realize how emotional this holiday season has been for you. Please keep posting to let us know how you are doing.

By the way, is your light an expensive thing? Just curious.

I looked my light up online and it was just under $200. It is rather large though. My boss (who is a psychiatrist) bought it for me for Christmas. So thoughtful and generous, I was so touched.

I sat in front of it for a total of 1.5 hours yesterday and I did not notice a lift in my mood. I was very depressed yesterday (for most of the day) as I was dreading going back to work today. It was so nice to have 5 days off from work. In some ways I do better at home and in other ways I don't. It's a tough balance. I like being at home and not having to fight so hard to focus and feel motivation but at the same time being home can get me down if I'm inside without company for too long.

I plan to sit in front of the light when I get home. It is too large and expensive for me to keep it here at work....I will keep you all posted.

If this works for me, I will spread the word about how worth it it would be to buy one!!

Cassandra, thanks for the empathy regarding my Mom; it means a lot. All of my HW family members have been so supportive and loving during this terrible nightmare. I could not be more greatful.
