I am falling down - feeling sad and like I am loosing the game.  I have tried so hard for 5 years to pull it together and yet I keep on cracking. After 29 years of dealing with depression, I am so tired.

Weaning off of Effexor.  Need hugs or something.

I am so sorry to hear this. I would talk to the pdoc about a different med. I went from effexor to pristiq rather easily. No brain zaps or anything. But they are closely related. So if effexor didn't work for you, pristiq might not either. They are always coming up with new meds. I might talk to my doc about lamictal as I take abilify and the copay is 40.00 a month. Rediculous to me. But Insurance is paying less and less all the time.

I went to the dentist and it is going to cost me 1300.00 even with insurance. Crazy. But it does help so I can't complain too much.

I really hope that you feel better soon. Yes, you have been struggling with depression for a long time as I have. And it gets really frustrating at points. It just doesn't seem fair at times. Why do we have to struggle so much???

Know that everybody here loves you and wants you to feel better. We are all here to support you and be there when you need us. You are a huge asset to this forum and loved by all.

So sorry for what you're going through. Depression is such a long, tough battle. Hang in there, though. You are a fighter & an inspiration to us all. I understand how tough it is when you feel like you are doing better & then things start to get worse again, but you can win this fight too. Think of all those cute little kids you take care of when you sub. :) I'm sure they love you and want you around. So you just gotta fight for them & family & friends & everyone who loves you here at HW.

And whatever we can do to help, know we are here for you.

Thank you all for the support.  I am weaning off Effexor and really so far so good.  I will be going on Wellbutrin but want to be off the Effexor first.

Effexor worked well but I gained 25 lbs since August.  The med causes me to crave carbos and I have always used food for comfort.  I will admit I was worried about weaning off Effexor but not bad effects so far.  I am down to 37.5 mg.  I am afraid if I stay on this med I will soon be way out of control.

I am on Lamictal and found this med to be awesome in helping level out my mood. 

I know I will have some lows and often in the long winter months - we had aour first big snowstorm on 11/13 and have gotten many storms since but nothing like the east coast so I guess I just need to remember to stay in the moment.

Our oldest is in the middle of a divorce which kicks me into spinning thoughts. sad He lives on the west coast so I cannot just drive over to his house.

I'm very happy to know you're taking Lamictal. I have nothing to say about that one except that it is a superior medication thus far for me.

I deleted my earlier post because I let it go on too long and thought it best to stop it before it got ridiculous. At any rate, it's very good to hear you're brighter tonight. I hope it continues, and I feel sure it will
with Lamictal and another medication your physician prescribes.

The weight thing has gotten me, too. I really have to get back on
the treadmill before this week is over. Listening to music is the only way I can stay on it; otherwise, it's incredibly boring, but not with the Bee-Gees' Staying Alive album.

Rocking away with the B-Gees eh IG. That sounds cool. I might check out lamictal as my co-pay on my abilify is 40.00. I don't know if I can afford to continue taking it.

Awe Lil Ole Kitt,

I will answer without looking at what others have said, so sorry if I have repeated.

I think sometimes we apply too much pressure on ourselfs to be 'well'. I think if we can accept that we will flucuate at times, this will really help your outlook when it does happen. It is very normal to strive to be whole and complete, but instead of focussing to much on this, what I do is, understand that I have depression, and I owe it to myself to live the best life I can inspite of this.

Just know we accept you whatever place you are at.

Embrace even these dark times Kitt, but celebrate the good times too, be very gentle with you, xxxxxxx

Sorry to hear you are feeling sad I know how frustrating it is when we do every thing we can but these problems keep coming back. You will get through this my friend you are a fighter and we are here to support you and help you through this rough time. You are an inspiration to us all and are a wonderful person who gives so much to help the members here but remember kitt to take care of yourself and do keep posting so we can help you.

I weaned of effexor and did find it difficult so I am pleased you are not having any problems it also made me put on weight and I was almost eating sugar straight out the bag and had shares in coca cola lol. Stick in their Kitt and I hope things improve soon and as I said we are here for you and want to help.
