Hello, Ineedhelp, welcome to the forum. Others will be on later in
the morning to offer good advice, I feel sure.
Honestly, you need to get back on your antidepressant. Sometimes it takes as much as 5 to 6 weeks for them to really be fully effective in your system. Two weeks just doesn't give yourself enough time to know whether it's going to work or not. You need also to discuss with your doctor what to expect from the particular antidepressant you're taking. So another appointment with him is called for.
The people who are calling you names are not your friends. You need to establish friendships with people who are positive and caring, not critical and abusive. That's a large part of why you feel depressed.
Your diet may have much to do with how you feel, Ineedhelp. Don't
drink soft drinks, or eat or drink anything containing caffeine. Use
no alcohol at all. Both of these things make depression worse. Try
to eat more green vegetables and salads and avoid too much meat,
white flour products, and sugar.
Those suggestions are for starters. They can go a long way in helping you get back good feeling tone.
Your relationship in your family is disappointing to you, I feel sure. You must remember that, when they are overly critical of you they are
revealing themselves and how they feel about
themselves but projecting it onto you. You should never judge yourself by who someone else says you are. Don't even judge yourself. Just evaluate who you are by your own deepest principles and try to live by them.
That will strengthen your respect for yourself and give you the courage
to move on with your life with or without your parents' criticism.
Any positive change you make for yourself might also help them to
recognize their mistake in verbally abusing you.
Please see your doctor again about
your medications. Often, it takes
more than one try on an antidepressant to find the one that works best.
There is one for you that will work.
Take care of yourself.
