abused as a child, cant get over it

so i was mentally abused as a teenager by my Moms ex boyfriend and I just cant seem to get over it. I want to press charges too.......

Can I ask, how long ago was this? And how long has he been out of the picture?

When we are little and someone voilates us, or over powers us, it is a normal response to feel anger toward that person.

Welcome Canhandleit,

Are you seeing anyone for counseling? This would be good idea. They can help you deal with this and press charges if you want to. You have 20 years for the statuat of limitations to run out. In my state anyway. I suggest you get this started, the counseling, I mean. They will help you. It isn't easy to go through by anymeans. But you will have the help of a counselor.

Sounds like it is time to stop trying to handle it and start dealing with it. It won't be easy by any means, but the journey will be well worth it once completed.

I suggest you start by seeking a counselor who "specializes" in either child abuse or sexual abuse. If you need help finding one look in your phone book for abuse hot lines or contact your local mental health department. You doctor as well as the local police department can also put you in touch with the right people.

I wish you well, and please know that in no way was this your fault. You were the child and he was the adult.
