Hi Everyone,  I am coming to you begging for help. I have been seeing a Psychiartrist for 3 years, I have easily been on 30 different types of meds. and combination of meds. He says I have a severe resistant mood disorder. Recently I felt really bad, felt suicidal, he told me to stop Paxil 20, begin Viibrid and Serroquel immediately. I tried the combo for one day, got crazy, couldn't stand, grinding my teeth, crawling on my hands and knees, this has happened in the past with other meds. as well. Only took one dose of Serroquel, took 4 days of Viibrid with severe GI upset. Stopped all. No meds for 2 wks and 3 days. Went to family physician and she wants me to take Topamax 25 daily to start. I feel so angry, want to kill someone. What should I do? I appreciate your help and advice. I am 63 yrs. old, work full time and am trying desperately to just survive with some peace. Trying to deal with something that seems to defy all attempts at relief is understandably frustrating and it does wear you down bit by bit. I am going through the same type of thing with diabetes which I have been unable to control for 12 years despite trying every treatment I can find or have been put on by many different doctors, so while our situations are not the same I can understand on a certain level your aggravation.

What I do not understand is what you are asking? If you could please elaborate it will make it easier to try to help you. Are you wanting some first hand experience in regards to Topomax? Are you wanting someone with resistant mood disorder to talk to you about what their treatment is like?

What are you so angry about? Is it not getting relief or do you feel like your doctors are not taking you seriously? Is there something you want from them and are not getting?

I would try the topomax. Try anything until you have exhausted all options. I have been on pristiq, abilify and xanax now for a few years and it is a good combo for me. I, like you had to try several different combos before I found what worked. Have you tried a mood stabilizer? The abilify works good for me. But I tried risperdol before that and it made me gain weight. I am sorry that you are considered resistant. There are other options than meds. Ect, vagus nerve thingy. I can't for the life of me remember what it is called. But just don't give up. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for the side effects to go away. Keep posting and letting us know how you are doing. I know this is hard especially when you are working a job. So keep in contact with us. Don't give up!!!

Sorry you are feeling like this. Don't give up. I would also contact my dr to let them know about the anger, if you haven't already. When I go in the psych or therapist always ask if I have feelings of hurting myself or others. Hope they find something that helps soon, it is frustrating trying to find something that works. Welcome to the best forum.
