Hello, Faithfully, and welcome to the Depression Forum,
I wish I could persuade you that the traumatic memory of the automobile accident will lessen as the years go by, and you will feel much, much better about
the whole episode as you continue therapy. Be sure to talk about
all the data pertaining to the accident with your psychiatrist so that it doesn't sink into your unconscious mind where it might leave some lingering guilt-ridden problem for you.
If you have nothing really good that you can think about
yourself, you might consider this: someone loved you enough in His life to give up His life for you. You are that important, for certain. Knowing that, could you begin to accept the fact that no matter what the circumstances are you are still a valuable person and that life would really like to have you join it with all its strengths and weaknesses?
Please get the psychiatric help you need to overcome the accident. Then, stay on the prescribed medications until you have sure-footing about
how things are going to be later on. One day, you will look back and feel sorry for all the time you missed with good people who consider you a good friend--people whom you may not even have met yet.
I can't think of a better way to begin things than to expect the New Year to bring challenges to you that you may handle one at a time, even one day at a time if necessary, until things are smooth for you again.
Take care.
