We recently had to put my dad in a nursing home because he

fell and broke him foot. He also has aortic valve stenosis and we were

were told in August that he only had a couple months to live.

My mom is 76 and I have no other siblings or family members in

the state to help out. I am totally overwhelmed. I have so much anxiety every day. The littlest things set me into a spiral of

downward emotions. I am having a tough time sleeping, eating

and i need some help.

Hi Kirbytigger,

Welcome to the depression forum. It sounds like your plate is full. At a time like this, I would highly suggest that you start to see a counselor if you aren't already. They can help prepare you for what is to come. Also hospice is a good idea. They totally help you deal with this.

I can see that you are totally overwhelmed. That happens. Try to take it one day at a time. Enjoy the time you have with your father right now. You will create fond memories. I am so sorry you are going through all of this. It is a part of life, it is hard. But you will make it. You and your mom will both get through this. Things are going to be different, but you will survive.

Keep posting, know that we all care. Know that this is a good place to come and talk.

In addition to the resources Karen has mentioned most areas have programs and/or agencies in place to help with any care or other assistance that seniors may need. Your local health department, senior center, the Council on Aging or the social services department of your local hospital may/should have the information you need on who to contact for whatever services that your situation requires to make things a little easier on you and your family.

Hello Kirbytigger and welcome to the forum. 

Try calling 211, its free and if it is still in service (budget cuts) they can offer you local resources and programs that may help you and your father.  As Karen said, we are here for you, so don't hesitate to reach out.  I'm sure others will soon respond to your post and offer you other ideas.
