Hi, everyone,

Yes, I'm still here off and on, Greenbean--nice of you to ask about me.

I've been spending some time on the internet trying to find somebody who will make a set of handlebars for my grandson's birthday gift in June: a unicycle. (I don't see how in the world anyone can ride one of those things without handlebars, knee, elbow, ankle pads, gloves, and a helmet because I'm sure the child will spend more time on the ground learning it than he will riding during the first two weeks of training!)

I expect the protective equipment to cost more than the unicycle before it's delivered to him!

The bicycle man tells me that kids can ride them better than adults. I'm sure they must be able to do so, because I wouldn't try it even with plated armor on!

I've been watching your growth, Greenbean, and you're way out ahead of many now. I hope things continue to be good for your life. You are growing into a very mature young person. When you look back on it, all the things that happen to us that seem difficult can turn out to be the best lessons life ever taught us if we will just live by our deepest principles.

Good morning all

Not much to report. Lots of bad t-storms yesterday-dogs spent the day huddled under Mama's bed-lol. So humid and hot already here-bad hair days galore!

Hubby goes to rheumy today-hope for some relief.

Effexor is having lots of bad side effects but feeling better mentally so I will plug away. The nausea is very bad, fatigue and insomnia. Picking up anti-nausea med today-oh good, more pills!!

Our granddaughter comes to visit this weekend. That is always nice.

OK 2nd cup of coffee coming up-y'all have a good day

Good Thursday morning everyone... drizzly weather and my dumb dodo cats think .... "if it's not wet IN, it must not be wet OUT". I'm just a doorman for them this morning. I really must install a cat access door! Does anyone have any experience with that kind of door?

Just looking ahead to Saturday's Kentucky Derby. One of the horses is from this area... and the stable is is just a few miles away. Keep an eye out for " Union Rags". He's my favorite.

Another question... my left hand has been bothering me for over a week. Carpal Tunnel?

Time for another cup of coffee... a ciggie... and another time to open the door for the cats!

Good morning all,

It is raining and thundering here this morning too. Dog wanted to climb on my head so I finally got up out of bed. Hoping we get a good soaking for the mushrooms. I am anxious to get out there and look. But not in the rain, though I have done that before. I am not as hard core as I use to be. lol...

Woke up to hubby being gone, hope he is getting breakfast. That would be nice. I don't know where he is...

I am so glad that we are all connecting on this thread. It really makes me feel good to see this. You are all so special to me. Keep posting...

I worry about getting carpal tunnel too Joyce. I am on the computer a lot. We'll see in time what happens. I hope that you don't have it.

Had a bad day yesterday(eye doctor and medication mix up)...going for my saline IV today..
Hope that can help me...sorry to be a downer today...
PA Grandma, maybe think about keeping your cats indoors...my boy toys are all
indoor cats...they have fun and get well pampered...(4 boy cats, Chancellor or Chance,
Remington or Rhemy, Demitri and lil twister Tristin)

Hey Gang

OMG! The monthly  trip to walmart was a killer! Humongous bags of dog, cat food, bird seed, bleach, detergents, cases of drinks etc. I could barely move that sucker at the store-lol. Thank God  hubby found a stray shopping cart and we have a freight elevator.

It is sunny and hot here. Having a good day now that the shopping is done.

Getting By: I have had a nonstop headache for around 5-6 days, but still have to function, and its not fun. I am so crabby, then I start crying. I have to go the county hospital for any help, and that takes hours and hours, and I am just not up to it. I need peace and quiet and cool air, can't seem to get there. I hope things get better for everyone here. I pray for all of us. The unemployment, the no insurance thing, what has happened to America?

Good Friday morning...
Who knows what the weather day will be like today. Supposed to be warm. Yesterday the forecast was for close to 80ยบ and it never got out of the 60's.

Chartreux...politics, religion and keeping cats indoors only seem to be the most intense subjects! There are two sides to this situation and can get very volatile. My furbabies were originally feral. We adopted them from the 'wild' and since we have eleven acres to roam.... feel comfortable letting them come and go.

Have you ever tried meditation to relax. That might help with the headaches. I get a lot of tension in my neck and shoulder area which leads to headaches. I have to constantly relax the area.

I hope your headaches do go away. It would be worth a trip to county if it gets bad.

Am going for my interview for TMS this morning. Turns out the head of TMS at the hospital I'm going to was also a professor for my psychiatrist when he was in med school. I'm scared. But I want to feel better. I haven't been very good about checking in daily. I'll post more later.

Gigi-I am very interested in your TMS, I truly hope it helps. PLease let us know. My psych NP pooh-poohed it but we have since parted ways..she was not helpful.

Joyce- we have a domesticated outdoors kitty and she is very happy with that. She has lots of woods to hunt in and sometimes doesn't come home for a couple of days, or leaves us little gifts on the porch. She comes in once in awhile during the day after a rough night "kitt-partying" and sleeps all day. Cool cat.

This effexor nausea is getting old but am hanging on for at least another week. Rough way to drop weight-lol.

Karen-have a good trip to town, too bad you cannot do Jas too...I hate those multiple trips to town too.

Summer is here in Mississippi but good news is that we are supposed to have less active hurrricane season this year-el nino or something....

Hi, Lonelyone530, and welcome to the Depression Forum.

If you sat down and wrote about yourself, I feel sure you'd find many things that are worthwhile saying about your life. You're a very valuable person to at least 3 that I know of right off the bat: yourself, Gettingby, God, and me, too! You see, that's four, and we haven't even begun to count your friends and family!

Do sit down and write about yourself and share with us some of the highlights of living.

If you are depressed, consider getting some psychotherapy. It does wonders for your self-image, and even medication may help to keep the chemical balance at an idea level.

Nice to have you as a member; keep in touch daily, as Gettingby requests.

Hi all-
Went for my assessment for TMS today and Dr (the head of TMS program) said I would make a good candidate. I'd be doing it at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where they've done research for 15 years. Dr said that 60% of people get mild to moderate improvement, and approximately 30% get full remission. Doesn't mean they don't still need counseling, meds for anxiety or depression, or follow-up TMS sessions (they call them maintenance visits). But it does offer some hope.

The appointment went well, but I found myself crying both before and after it. And for most of the rest of the day. I guess that's reason enough to try TMS, to get some relief from this crying. I'm nervous about it though. I'm sad that I'm at the point that I need such a type of treatment. It is much less invasive than ECT though, and that would have been my only option in the past. Am also worried about the cost, it's ~$330 per session, and the average is 20-30 sessions. We are working out financing it, but I still feel badly about how much it costs, especially if it doesn't work for me. Intellectually I know it's a matter of me having low self-esteem or self worth, but my depressive thinking is winning right now.

My husband says you can't put a price on one's life, and to think of it as getting my life back. I know my thinking is depressive, but I think I'm scared b/c depression is all I've known for so long. But I can't keep crying non-stop. It's too much. It's exhausting. So I feel like I need to try this, b/c I don't know what else to do.

Good Saturday morning. Nice weather expected.

Just a brief hello. Plans for the day include weeding my garden and treating the two cats with their monthly flea medication.

Both are major jobs. A flower I stopped growing several years ago (Perilla) is still sending up seedlings every spring. Terribly invasive. Must have hundreds if not thousands of sprouts. I call it the "Purple People Eater".

My favorite cat really reacts to the topical flea dose. It must burn. Wish me luck, and the kitty too.

gigi, I hope that tms works for you. Maybe it wont take that many treatments. I hope not... Take this one day at a time. Don't worry about expenses right now.

Good Sunday morning. A late start. Took a nap yesterday (after my gardening chores) and it's thrown off my sleep schedule.

Do the rest of you take naps?

Some 'good" stuff and some "not so good" stuff for me.

The good...got the flea medication on my cat without too much trauma. 2nd... Steamed lobster for dinner today. They're on sale.

Not so good... my local horse did very poorly at the Kentucky Derby yesterday. Union Rags was a favorite to win, and was almost last leaving the starting gate. Oh well, at least I didn't bet on him.
2nd... waited all week for the spectacular big moon last night, and it was overcast and a no show. Shucks.

I heard about the moon but forgot to go out to look. It was cloudy here to though so I probably wouldn't have seen it anyway... Bummer though. I forget everything so easily...

Sorry that your horse didn't win. I don't watch the derby anymore. Alwasy afraid a horse will get hurt. Never wathc steeple chase.

It is blue skies here this morning with a touch of clouds. High clouds that I think will burn off when the sun comes up. Though I don't know for sure. We need some warm weather. Got the rain we needed, now we need heat for the morel mushrooms.

g'mornin' Karen...

Whenever you mention 'mushrooms' I mean to tell you that our factory is now what used to be a mushroom growing complex. When we bought the building it still was set up for that. Interesting how different it looks now. Still no windows though. Mushrooms have to grow in the dark.

Aren't you a bit worried about eating wild mushrooms?

We know the real ones from the false ones. But some people don't and do get sick. The real ones are hollow all the way through. I found one yesterday while walking my dog. But only one. Not enough to eat. I am looking forward to the next crop that is white morels. They are much meatier than the black ones. I will let you know how it goes.

The sun is trying to come out, but I don't know if it is going to make it. I sure hope so. I want to go for a walk without rain. lol...
