Depression over health problems, continued

Feeling terrible today, and it's too late to go to the doctor. Ugh.

Just thought I'd update.
Feeling fairly decent lately, my biggest problem is the metabolic issues. I have to eat every two hours and then when I do eat I get really tired if I eat too much. On Thanksgiving I ate a bigger meal than I've had in a long time and I felt tired and lightheaded afterwards. I know I don't have diabetes because my blood sugar has been checked but now I'm thinking adrenal fatigue. I never did go back to the doctor but I plan on it next week.
As for my mental health, it's pretty good considering I just spent my first Thanksgiving without family. I did spend it with my boyfriend and made some good food so it wasn't too bad, but talking to my mom and sister who had the usual family Thanksgiving made me sad. I'm trying to stay positive but I don't see this going away any time soon so it gets me a little down.

Well, I don't have any muscle pain so I think it's more likely to be chronic fatigue or post-viral syndrome than fibro. I think the doctor was just mentioning things in that family of conditions that can start after a virus. I wish I would have asked him about adrenal fatigue because I have like 90% of the symptoms, especially the blood sugar issues, feeling better at night, worse period symptoms, etc.

Hi Lindsay, I've been reading you posts and I decided I should give my experience for you to peruse. I have both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and according to my doctors they are in the same category(the "were not sure what its is, but its bad")category. I also have EBV disease, which is also mono. I never had it as a teen but I have suffering from the effects for 1 1/2yrs and counting, I've had the fibro since 09 and the cfs since 11, they have to test your blood specifically for EBV markers and I just happened to have a pcp who did. She also turned around and refused to treat me, or even see me again, my new pcp agreed to talk about it, then he told me that there is no treatment, just the symptoms can be treated(Duh) but he would let my specialists handle that. There is no specialist for EBV and neither my rheumatologist or my endocrinologist will touch it either. So that's where I'm at I hope you have better luck especially since your the same age as my daughter. I would also tell you not to worry about how your dr.'s feel about your mental health, I'm bi-polar all the way back to when it was called manic-depressive and for me as soon as a doctor hears those words "mental illness" the've got an opinion, it may be a good one, I've been complimented several time for how well i'm handling this despite "my condition" I know its meant as a compliment however I've also had to survive dr.'s with the other opinion, who treat me like I'm brain damaged and should be locked up somewhere. Tough nuggies for them, the only way your going to get the help you need is if you ask for it! Whether they want to hear you or not, this is what they get paid for. I am still in limbo on the EBV but I've got 4 specialists who are supposed to be working on it and I know my neurosurgeon will have his people working on it. I had an MRI on Friday because of naseau, vomiting, dizziness and vertigo. That what caught my eye about your post, it doesn't mean you have brain tumors, mine are 10 and 4yrs old respectively, but sometimes you gotta rattle the right chains to get anything done and neurosurgeons are at the top of the medical foodchain. I wish you a speedy diagnosis and an effective treatment plan.

Started feeling MUCH better for a few days and now I'm feeling pretty bad again. Question to those with chronic fatigue, does the tiredness come in waves or is it more constant? I'll be fine for a while and all of a sudden I feel too tired to do anything. And it's not really a sleepy kind of tired, it's a spaced out, lightheaded kind of tired, but it still feels like fatigue.

Thanks. Do your symptoms wax and wane even within the same day? It seems like most of the time I'll feel good for two weeks, then bad for a week, but when I'm feeling good I'll still have spells of feeling crappy. And on the days I'm feeling bad I almost always feel pretty decent at night.

I'm still fairly optimistic, because when I look back at the last 8 months I am much better off now than I was at the beginning. June, July, and August were the worst.

Oh no, that's awful. I really feel for you. I'm missing out on time I could be working and also forced to change my major at school so I can take online classes, and with grad school I'll just have to cross that bridge when I come to it. Same with getting a career. It's funny, we grow up making all these plans and never imagine the possibility of chronic illness.

I'm not sure if I've asked before but do you have any stomach issues or IBS-like symptoms with your CFS? How about swollen glands? I still have a single swollen lymph node in my neck that gets pretty big some days, especially when I feel worse, and other days I can barely feel it.

Thank you so much. I think CFS may be what I have and I think I should try to talk more with the doctor about it. I haven't had the extreme, overwhelming fatigue that most do but I get a LOT of sleep every night. If I don't get about 10 hours of sleep I feel very tired and get the waves of extreme fatigue throughout the day.

I hope I'm one of the lucky ones who "get over" CFS. I'm hoping that might be the case since I'm so young and have always been really healthy.

Still feeling worse than I have in a long time. I literally cannot take anymore of this.

I haven't felt up to getting up and driving there. I stay very tired until late afternoon and the doctor's office closes at 4. I'm going to try on Monday.
I'm having some IBS symptoms and also some major fatigue and lightheadedness. Just really feeling awful in general. It's making me worried I'm not going to be able to go to my mom's for Christmas and moving at the end of the month is going to be really difficult.
