Please if there are any other mothers out there who have Teenagers HELP- For the first time I wanted to . An wondered if my family too maybe we would all be better off? My husband works so hard but makes so little, I work also, but the state of our economy we will never get ahead. We will always be suffering to pay bills. My teenager girls just want a normal life of sports and driving and clothes. But they are so ungrateful it seems. Thy hate everything I do. I sing bad, clap to loud, don't buy right makeup, or food, or clothes. They don't want to sit with me anymore, and I feel most of my depression is because my 2 girls and my husband never say anything nice. Only criticism - that is enough to get depressed. I just started on lexapro - so hoping that will help. Just need someone to listen and care

I had to edit your post, we can not talk about suicide or homocide on this forum, I hope you understand.

Sounds like your teenagers are normal ungrateful kids of this era.

I am glad that you are seeing and doctor and getting on medication. give it some time to work and try not to be so hard on yourself. You are not responsible for how other people, including your kids, see the world.

Take life one day at time and don't worry so much about the future, today is hard enough.

Keep posting we are here to listen and support.

I would like to welcome you to the depression forum. I think Trina gave you good advice. Continue to work on your depression. Counseling really helps a lot. Be mindful and take life one day at a time.

Thank you for your response- I just want someone to care and listen and tell me some tricks to get through this- please- I know my problems are deeper rooted but I just put on the mask to get through it. Have many blessings but just can't get over this negativity from my family. I live them and tell them daily .

Wow you are right- I guess I hate myself. Growing up I was never good enough, or smart enough , or pretty enough for my father. I never could make him proud. Thus I carry this into my adult life. I grew up afraid of rejection and still feel this way today. I am the one always looking in from the outside. Never feeling like I am worthy. How does someone get over this?? Any help appreciated. Can't afford real help. HELP

See if this site helps you.  If it doesn't, there are many books that help us get our self esteme back.  One for instance, is "Feeling Good"  By Dr. David Burns.  And there are many others.
