Good morning everyone.

Just got back from weekly grocery shopping. Usually on Saturday, but put it off! REALLY low on cat food. The 'boys' got a treat for breakfast today, some left over Thanksgiving turkey from the freezer.

UA, I can remember paying 14 ¢ to go to the movies Saturday matinee. How does that date me? Haven't paid to go to movie theatre in years.

Chartreux... so glad you're staying with us.

I started on Healing Well in the Prostate and Lymphoma threads because of my husband's health problems.. Folks were helpful, but it was on this Depression forum that I felt 'welcome'.

So, now...they're stuck with me!

Joyce, I've heard my dad talk about when you can get 5 biscuit for just 1 cent. It's really unbelievable. I've never known the cost of going to the movies to be in cents. From as far as I can remember, it was around $20-$25. Now it's $45. Things and times really have changed...

Chartreux: sorry about your migraines/headaches. Hope you get an easy with the headaches and knee pain.

Just got back from the grocery. I think I may have spent more than I had planned. Christmas really makes us spend a lot more than we want...

Another scare...

Just minutes ago I looked out the window and saw a raccoon chasing my cat.

I went out on the deck to check things out and the raccoon was there... It literally flew towards me from the far corner of the house...I screamed and grabbed the door... it slid off the wet deck onto the ground below and ran into the woods.  We live on eleven acres and have never seen a raccoon during daylight.

What should I do now.  I don't think my cat was injured (he did have shots some years ago).?  There are dozens of feral cats around fed by a neighbor that have NOT had shots.

If I notify the humane society...what will they do to my two indoor/outdoor kitties and the rest of the neighborhood animals?

No, he didn't feel cornered, Karen. He was the aggressor, for sure. John went searching, but didn't see anything.

We will keep our cats inside (as soon as they come for a snack).
I've been considering calling the Humane Society, but don't want any involvement/restrictions of our cats and the other feral colony.

Our humane society will lend you a live trap and when you trap him, you take him to the humane society. We have had to do this with possums.

1843??? I have seen some early 1900 ones but no 1800. We use to have an old restaurant and they had old time Christmas cards in it, they were cool. One had santa on it and the beard was like white hair. I loved looking at them.

I'm concerned about your raccoon. They don't generally attack creatures larger than themselves, unless they feel threatened or protecting their young. But that doesn't seem to be the case here. From what I've read this reaction is 'normal' if the animal has rabies or distemper.

I would suggest you call an animal safety office in your area or the police. If that raccon is 'ill' that puts all of you, ppl and pets in danger. I would hate to see you, your DH or any of the other animals hurt or sick.

I love when you talk about all of the animals in your large yd. I can see them in my mind.
