Joyce,

I agree with Alice and UA, get that Raccoon off your property ASAP. It sounds from its actions, like it has rabies.

I have never seen a raccoon attack unless it was sick or a Momma with babies within eyesight.

Get your cats vaccinated ASAP, Rabies is all over even squirrels get it. Nothing to play with. Even a scratch from the cat can transfer it to humans.

Call the Animal Welfare Assoc. or Human Society to talk to your neighbor about feeding the feral cats and the dangers it presents. They can offer alternative solutions for the neighbor. Not a safe situation at all.

Friends, thank you for your kind support and suggestions. Yes, I know there is possible danger in this situation.

IF the raccoon comes around again, I WILL call the Humane Society....BUT, if I do....my cats would need to be quarantined for two weeks...and I don't want to do that unnecessarily. It's also possible that the feral cats would be destroyed.

This animal yesterday DID behave strangely. It was agressive...but possibly just frightened. It had no other symptoms of rabbies, (frothing at the mouth, unsteady gate etc.)... and I'm just not willing to 'jump the gun' for now.

I'll keep you posted about any developments. ~ Joyce

But do be careful and wathch out for the raccoon. They can carry rabies. But hopefully this one wont come back. Are the foxes still around?

Unfortunately, I haven't seen my favorite fox since Thanksgiving Day. The deer hunting has started and I fear it has been shot.

Whenever I look out the window I hope to see her. Getting the fox comfortable around humans was not a good, I think. As much as I enjoyed the experience I don't think I should ever do it again.

I understand what you mean. When they get use to us, they don't fear humans like they should. Though chances are the hunters may have gotten her anyway, if they did. But she may have moved her den. We had a family of them move in, and one of my dogs got loose and chased them. They never came back. I hope my dog didn't kill the kits. But it was a pleasure while it lasted. Sometimes things just happen out of our control. I hope the raccoon stays away.

Good morning all.

Updates for the computer this morning. Took over an hour to load.

Will be going to work this morning....but don't really have to. Orders have 'dried up'. Just clean up to do. Really a disappointing year. Hope we can figure out how to keep going. This will be our 38th season and we've had some 'downers'...but this was the worst.

No sign of the raccoon (or the fox).

wow y'all I missed ALL the action. I am glad the raccoon did not do you harm Joyce and hope all your furry friends survive and thrive.

We have all had the "coughing crud"...am on antibiotics but up half the nite coughing-blah! Did half of my xmas cards-yah!!

Hope everyone is doing well and aLL  done for the holidays...except the good stuff, family food friends and faith!!

Good Morning Everyone,

Saw a picture yesterday morning of the cutest more adorable puppy that needs a home for Christmas. Trying to convince my parents to let me have her but no luck. This puppy is on my mind since yesterday.

Thanks for the tips about the microwave oven Joyce. It seems very useful. I'll definitely try that at home.

JAMIE: SORRY TO HEAR about THE DIARRHEA AND YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY SLEEP. ISN'T THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN USE FOR THE DIARRHEA OR IS IT A SIDE EFFECT OF A MEDICATION? I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON.
