AV,
Stopping contact with family members is not a decision to make lightly or quickly, takes a lot of thought and consideration. Your
health and mental health be 2 of the things to consider.
It depends on how bad you want your health. My case is extreme I admit. I remembered both my siblings abusing me sexually and physically for years.
So I had a choice before I disclosed, I knew I could continue in a world of toxic relationships with the love of grandnieces/nephews with limited contact through their parents. Who knows what they were being told about me. OR, I could put it out there the Truth and see what happened.
I disclosed, I have I niece that still contacts me once and awhile, she has no children. She is 32, does it behind her parent back.
It has been 2 years now, I am mentally healthier for it. YES it was rough, very hard. However, I am discovering the strong person I am for it.
I wish you Peace
Trina
