Hi Cgal,
Welcome to the depression forum. I am glad you stopped in, and I hope we can help you. I am sure he loves you, but it sounds like depression is getting in the way. You are doing the best you can, it is up to him to follow through. I am sorry he is not taking his medications, they would probably help him. And I am sorry he isn't making all of his counseling appointments. Hopefully that will change when he sees what his depression is doing to other people.
Be there when you can. But remember, you can't fix him. He has to do this himself. Keep supporting him and let him know that you love him. But try not to take his reactions to you personally. But don't let him treat you badly either. You are a human being with feelings, and we can only take so much.
You might want to look into counseling for yourself to help you to get through this. It couldn't hurt. Then you could understand his mind better. Or get a book on depression.
We can't talk about illegal drugs or suicide here. But if he is needing to alter his mood, then he surely needs medication. I would try to get him to take his meds, if he doesn't like them he can try a different med.
I hope that this helps in some small way. Keep posting and know that we all care...
Hugs, Karen
