Son, 18, confused and dealing with breakup

I have been reading another post about a son's breakup and how he is very upset and crying.  My son who is 18, has been dating a very nice girl for almost 6 months -- they work together at a fast food restaurant and met there.  They have been seeing each other almost every day for the past 4 months and everything has seemed just fine.  My son is in love with her, I know.  A few weeks ago was his girlfriend's 17th birthday and he was invited over to be with the family for the big celebration they had with her immediate family.  But it was shortly after that they stopped seeing each other so often.  She suddenly became "busy" and now the last time he was with her was a week ago.  This past week she was "busy" and had no time for him.  Now yesterday on his day off, he contacted her to do something together and now she will not even answer him.  He doesn't know what is suddenly going on and is very hurt and confused.  Any ideas or suggestions as to how he should handle this and why she may be doing what she is doing? 

It sounds like she is doing what immature teenage girls do, when they not longer want to date a guy. The easy way out.

I am sorry that your son is so affected by this, I am sure he will work it out. Eventually, through the friend network, he will find out what is going on with the girl.

Try not to worry to much, your son is young and hopefully will have many loves in his life before he settles down.

That would be up to him. Sometimes it is better to let things simmer. But it seems he is entitled to an explanation. Whether or not she will give one, I don't know. I would'nt push it, but to ask would be okay. I am sure it is nothing he did, she is just changing. There could be many broken hearts, but we learn from that and get stronger.
