I was diagnosed with Dysthymia Depression but I never really stay on medication. I have been taking tramadol now for about two years. I havent been able to take any anti depressant because of the tramadol. Within the last 6 months the tramadol has started making me very agitated and I am having frequent headaches. Very bad headaches that wont go away with any medication. I am needing an alternative to the tramodol that is a non narcotic and hopefully something I can also take an antidepressant with.

Tramadol and antidepressants can mess with the serotonin in your system. I took tramadol with antidepressants before, but it didn't help with my pain so I moved on.

I too think that the best thing you can do is talk to your doctor about this, they would know best.

My best advice is to see neurologist for you headaches that will work with your pyschiatrist and your family doctor. Mine does and eventually we found meds that work together. It took 8 months, but we found them.

You have to stay on the medications and communicate with the doctor about what is going on. You can not stop them yourself, causes more head pain.
