To those that are mastering the art of struggling thru depression, why dont you give up? What is it in you the pushes you forward every second that you want to quit?

That is quite a loaded question, I am sure that you will get some lengthy answers here.

For me; giving up is NOT an option. Anything else is.

I would also like to suggest that once "coping skills" are learned and mastered, the struggle is lessened considerably. So depression is not always a struggle is can be a blessing.

My mom left my life by her choice. I know she is out there somewhere but she hasn't contacted me in over 2 years. As I said, she left by choice. The pain and the loneliness and the empty space left by her leaving keeps me going. I will NEVER leave my children by my choice. I will never ever leave them with the feelings that she left me with.

And honestly, I know that some days are better than others and I live for the good days. When they are good, they are good!!!! The bad ones are pretty bad. But I also live for the good ones! :)

I find that if I only try to take life one day at a time, I do much better. I try to stay mindful of things. I try to live in the moment. CBT therapy has worked for me. I hope that you find what works for you...

My Support Group keeps me going and also staying positive. The 3 year old upstairs that holds my hand and throws me kisses and my Faith is another huge factor in my life. Listening to Christian Music and going for walks. Nature has a calming effect.

Hi frenchaimee,

It's tough a lot of times but remembering the dreams I have and goals I want to achieve (things I want for the future) keeps me going.
