Has any one had experience with Haloperidol?

Hi All

This is my first post in this forum for a while I am a moderator over in the Anxiety/Panic forum. I have just been changed from Risperidone to Haloperidol by my proc for the treatment of my psychosis/paranoid thoughts as I could not handle the sedation of the Risperidone.

I have been prescribed 0.5mg unto 3 times per day if needed and was wondering if any of you guys had used this medication and what your experiences were? My pdoc says it should not be as sedating and works well for paranoid thoughts.

Any input would be appreciated.

I use to take risperdone, then switched to abilify. I will look haloperidol up and see what it is about. I haven't heard of it before. I hope that it works for you. I know that the abilify helps me. Best wishes for a wonderful day...

How are you? Thanks for your reply they won't prescribe abilify over here in the uk to expensive but I have heard that works well and is more activating than sedating.

It seems to be yea. It does cause weight gain though. I am fighting that every day and losing the battle. It keeps me from having obsessive thinking and I am so glad that I am on it.

I hope that the haloperidol works for you. Keep me posted.
