hello

Hi I'm new to the depression part of this forum I'm also in the anxiety part! Anyways I'm 21 and was recently diagnosed with severe anxiety and major depression. I'm only doing CBT I am scared of medication so don't want to take any. But I figured is stop in and tell you about my self and ask a couple of questions. It all started with one day I was so dizzy that I vomited :-( so slept all day the next day I went to the emergency room and they said it was my ear so they sent me home with meclizine it worked for a minute. Then a month later I was out enjoying my self and all of a sudden started to get hot and felt sick went home went to bed the next day I laid in my bed all day I got up took a shower and felt like I was gonna pass out and my heart was racing went to er they did nothing for me so I went home the next day I felt worse but managed until 2:30 am had my Grandma take me out they told me anxiety I didn't believe them in order for me to feel like that out of the blue it had to be something else but went home went back the next night with fat heart they sent me home with a holter monitor for 24hrs I guys that come back good so they sent me for a bunch of treating (MRI,CT scan you name it) was put on a beta blocker works good for the most part.. Anyways I'll just jump to my questions! Does any one else have anything similar? Does depression our anxiety make you just lay around all day everyday? I can't even get enough energy to take a shower! Will I ever Beale to go sleep back in my own bed? I sleep in the couch :-( thank good my boyfriend of six years us a Lil understanding.. I just don't know what to do anymore so any archive would be helpful or even to know of somebody else that goes thru this. Yes, what you are experiencing can be from drepression. Using your CBT skills along with mindfullness can help you dremendously!

Look up sleep hygene also and see why works for you to get you back into a good sleep cycle.

Hi. My depression and anxiety prevent me from being motivated to go anywhere or do much of anything. All I ever do is watch tv, go on computer, eat and sleep, and nothing else. I leave my house sometimes, but usually only when I need to be somewhere or need food or something. My depression completely prevents me from being happy or being enthusiastic, so sometimes I figure that no matter what I do it is not really going to make a difference, and I am always either moderately or severely depressed. I am trying to change it, though, because I know that really I am not happy living that way and that I need to. It's really hard to find the motivation, but I think with counseling and other help, and consistently working to improve it, it is possible.
It is common for people with depression to not leave their house etc, but it can also make depression worse. I have been dealing with the problems I have for years, and have found over the years it's become worse because of it. For example, I used to only have moderate depression and anxiety, and because i've either not been able to find help or have not tried to help myself, it's become much worse. Again, it can be difficult to find the motivation to change your life, but I think it's important to remember that things can get better, and that even if it takes a while to overcome it, it is far better to start making small changes rather than allowing it to become worse.

Well done Megan! Keep up the good work.
We all have this issue on the roller coaster of depression called life. The only way to beat it is to move those muscles so the mind will follow!

By the way, I love Emmy too! I read a lot of her poetry, she suffered alot in her life and it shows in her work. You can connect easiely with a lot of her poems.

Thank you, Trina. Yes, it's tough but the only way to overcome depression. I just keep trying to focus on the future and life without depression. I think that is important for people with depression because I find that focusing on the sadness in the moment makes it harder to move past it. I really like Emily Dickinson's poetry, especially the poem I have as my signature, and can relate to some of her poems that I have read.Hi kortnie21. I think it is good to try to go places even if you don't feel like going out. I never feel like going anywhere either and haven't much but i'm going to start trying more. yes I also have anxiety. I have had both depression and anxiety on and off for many years (since I was a kid) but it's been more severe over the past five years or so, since I was 15 or 16. In some ways it is a good thing that you have only been dealing with depression and anxiety for only a few months because it could be easier to overcome and prevent in the future. My depression and anxiety have prevented me from living a normal life for years and I wish I would have known what to do about it years ago or have been able to get help for it, but now i'm just trying to move forward with my life now and get help for it.

At the very least try breathing exercises in 1, 2, 3 out slower 1 2 3 4
It will naturally calm your body down, do it 3, 4 times a day.

Its definitely a tuff situation I don't think I'd have depression if it want for anxiety I'm thinking about doing natural remedy but not sure yet I know medication is out of three question for me

I've just recently started CBT I was gonna also look into something for the serotonin level but don't know what would be best
