Hello, thoat condition and remeron

Hello,   i spend most of my time down on the GERD forum because i had a medical procedure go bad leaving me with a horrible throat condition which has caused anxiety and depression.   I have a globus sensation, voice loss, sore throat and the constant urge to swallow because my throat is swollen.  I am taking ativan to help but my doctor wants me to try Remeron.  Has anybody used this?  Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks

I tried it years ago. It made me very sleepy, though it doesn't do that to everybody. I hope that it helps you, the only way to find out is to try it. Good luck, and welcome to the depression forum.

Thank you very much. I am nervous to add another drug to my body. I dont respond well to meds. But i am also very depressed from this condition.

It is worth finding out if you can tolerate the medication or not. I know it is scary, but it is so nice to feel better. Please give it a try. Let us know how it goes.

Karen, i have some issues with my liver, thats why i am so hesitant to start it. I was on acid blocking meds for three months and it really messed up my liver, plus gave me a massive systemic candida infection, so im trying to clear that up before i make a decision. I will give it a try at some point. Less than a year ago, i had no health problems, now all i do is go to doctors who throw medicine at me. So far everything has made me worse. I just read that benzos are really bad for the liver so im in another horrible catch 22. I will stop back by when and if i decide to take it. Thank you so much. I do get very depressed by the symptoms. Never had depression before. Not once

I didn't know that benzos can effect the liver. I got blood work back a couple of weeks ago and my liver enzymes are high. I take so many medications and a lot of them go through the liver. So I got to weigh things out and then figure out which medication is causing the problems. I take pain pills and there is tylenol in them, that could be contributing to it. I take xanax too. but have been cutting back on that. Now you have me thinking... I don't want to end up with liver problems.

Karen, my liver is weak to begin with. How how were your liver enzymes?? How much xanax do you take?? I read in the book Toxic Relief by Don Colbert that benzos were in the top four that are hard on the liver but i havent read this anywhere else. He says it slows phase one of detox.

My liver enzymes were 40. If I remember right. I think the high end for it was 29. I will find the paperwork to make sure.

I take .25 of xanax two to three times a day.

I took 4 mg a day a few years ago. 1mg 4 times a day.

Thanks for any information that you can give about this.

I take 325mg of tylenol 4-6 times a day in my pain medication.

Karen, i would suspect the tylenol more than the xanax. You take that for fibromyalgia? You have similar problems as my neighbor. Do you hurt all over?? Have you ever tried any natural things for fibro?? Like turmeric?? Email me if you like. I take 2-3 mg of ativan a day and i hate it. But right now i have no choice. Before they screwed up my throat i never even took an aspirin.
