Really irritating, too.

I took 150 mg of effexor for a year. Psych raised it to 225 mg recently. Wrote me a prescription, took it to my pharmacy (Walgreens). It's been over a week, and I haven't yet been able to get it filled. This morning I took a half dosage and I am out.

The pharmacy says they need authorization from the insurance, and insurance says they need the right paperwork from the doctor, and the doctor says they have sent the paperwork to the insurance and the pharmacy. It's not clear who is gunking up the works, at this point.

It all started when the pharmacy said the insurance needed a form authorizing me to take the extra dosage. The doctor's office did this.

It's really confusing, and I have gotten phone calls from both the doctor and the insurance saying it's all good, go pick up the prescription. Walgreeens says Nope, not okay.

Argh!

Yep, yep, yep.

Insurance changed their policies July 1 of this year. Pharmacist looked irritated, said there has been a lot of insurance issues this summer. Meaning, not just me. This just seems insane. everybody seems to agree, on the phone, that the drug increase is terrific.

I am about to get on the phone, and make it worse!

And, no worries, KMF. I plan to get a week's worth but want to give the paperwork snarl a chance to work itself out.

Best wishes with this Myself. I know how fudged up it can get when you need a priorauthorization... I have had that happen many times. I don't know how they get things screwed up, but they do...

I just got the call from the doctor's office, followed by the email from Walgreens stating my prescriptions are, yes, ready.

They apparently had to do two different prescriptions, one for 150 mg, and one for 75 mg.

Whatever! I really do not want to see what happens when I go cold turkey...

I am so relieved. I am glad that you got your script. I hope that makes the day better for you. Hassles with insurance companies are no fun.

Me, too! This was getting silly. I predict more trouble ahead for insurance holders.

My insurance, which is a Virginia state employee insurance, really bites, and always has, though this past year it has been getting progressively worse. I am trying to wring all I can from it before it expires.

Well, time to take a shower and then go off to the pharmacy (third times the charm!).

I know Myself09, I get a panic attack everytime I think of when my husband retires and I loose the Pharmacy insurance coverage. I don't want to deal with Medicare D.

Do who do I choose? I use to do this for living and was good at it, but now I get paper fright! There are do many new companies out there all the time and coverages are all different!

I just keep putting it off, I have at least 5 more years....

My insurance ends at the end of this month. I will be registering for the federal health insurance as soon as I can, instead of paying 600 monthly for the COBRA. It's just not worth it, IMO. It's not very good, and I have stocked up on most of my expensive drugs. Hopefully, nothing horrid will happen in the few months between coverage.

I have had several different insurances, and they are SO not created equal.

Perhaps if I get a job soon, I will have better coverage.

Let us know how that national health insurance goes. I am curious. Is that the Obama coverage?
