Michelle ..........
There's an old saying that "there's more than one way to skin a cat"! Just a short story .......
In 2012, I spent over $6000. on medication and that included insurance coverage - Part D Medicare. I was in the doughnut hole by February and in the Catastrophic area or zone by April. The major culprit was an oral chemotherapy.
This year, when the oncologist recommended my second oral chemo to try ....... I told him simply "can't afford it - can't do it"!!! Within weeks, their office had negotiated with the manufacturer so that if I paid $608. for the first 30-day supply, they would provide the balance of the year for free.
Unfortunately, that oral chemo didn't work and I was off of it in 2-months. But .... the oncologists office did get grant of some kind for me that would reimburse me up to $7000. in cancer meds over the cours of the next 12-months. They even sent me a reimbursemnt check for the $608. I paid back in June.
Rather than deprive yourself from meds you need ..... explore!!! You might find some pleasant surprises.
P.S. ........... in this governments eternal wisdom, medicare does NOT cover oral chemo but DOES cover injected chemo. No one I know has been able to figure that one out!!!!!
Good luck on the med shopping.
