I am so sick of being behind in my bills. I have 2 jobs with my husband having a commission only job. And, we still can't keep up! We do noting on the lavish side. No vacations, no big date nights, no going out to the movies, etc.

This morning I woke up to my cable being turned off. Luckily I was the first one up and called the company. I did end up getting it turned back on but now I have $100 to last a week and we are a family of 4. I spend that just by walking into the grocery store.

Husband has a follow up appt with his surgeon this week. I'm praying this visit was covered in the amount we paid for surgery. If not, that means our bank account will go negative.... Again.

Let's not mention all the credit card bills that are not getting pain at all right now.

I feel so stupid, helpless, such despair that I'm always behind. I'm an educated woman and somehow I'm in this situation. Needless to say, my depression is winning this morning. I'm miserable.....

Guess I need to look into getting a third job somehow.

So sorry to hear the stress in your post. If it is the medical bills putting the final straw on things, ask them for a "charity care" or "Sliding Scale Request" for the bills. I did and have filled the paperwork out, they took almost 2 3rds of the money away that we owed. Payments are small and we make them every 6 weeks. They can not charge interest on hospital bills, it is illeagle.

Hang in there things will get better!

Hey Michelle .......

   Please ask for and investigate for help ..... sliding scale or whatever else. I did just finish a post on the "daily" for you about cutting the cost of meds.

   I feel for you. As it's said ... "been there - done that"! With the grant I received (mentioned in the daily post), it was based on income - but was not ridiculously poorhouse rigid.

   I live on social security, a small part-time income and a small IRA distribution. I qualified easily for this grant .... so search. I know it's time consumming and can get frustrating ... but it's better than where you're at right now.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. JB, I feel ya! It's the pits to be where we are.

My husbands job is and has been an argument in this family. Not knowing what he makes paycheck to paycheck is beyond frustrating. Money will be even tighter because he can't sell cars with only one working leg. He's going to try and I'm praying he can sell a few for the month. I know he can't get up in any trucks and that is what he mostly sells.

I too am concentrating about food and house. I hear you about the cable. I guess I feel that is our only outlet and we deserve it. Is that crazy? Maybe I'm loosing it. Today I feel like I am.

I just need to sit down and get everyone on the same page. Hopefully it will be an achievable page. I'm good about taking my breakfast and lunch to work. For $20 I'm set. My husband on the other hand eats out for both. That crap has to stop! This is insane!

Thanks for letting me rant and vent. I'm just so upset. Gotta get it under control.

Thank you for your understanding and support. I'm going to change my viewpoint and I'm going to give praise because we do have food on the table and a roof over our heads. The rest is falling to the wayside. However, we have it so much better than others.

( I just took a bath and used my free dial body wash- smelled so good! It helped change my viewpoint)

My daughter has a job but I still pay for food and gas. I'm going to negotiate gas with her. I'll pay every other week. Heck she has twice as much money in her bank account right now than I do. She has a job but no bill responsibilities. My 16 year old son needs a job. Time to start putting pressure on him. Time for them to start being responsible and learn to budget. Hopefully they will learn better than me.

But in the meantime, I'm just going to be thankful.

Hey Michele,

I'm sorry for everything you're going through. I agree with JB. Maybe you can cut off the cable for a little while. We don't have cable home here and I don't mind at all.

Just a suggestion, maybe you can make a monthly budge. Put a certain amount of $$ toward food, house bills, medical bills, miscellaneous, etc. Not sure if this will work for you.
Would you be able to get food stamps to help you out? I'm not familiar with how it works in the US but I know some relatives who get these assistance.

I think getting your daughter to help out financially is a good idea. She should help out financially a bit.

Try to take it one day at a time JB... Try not to worry about things out of your control. I know, much easier said than done. I hope that things get better.

I hear all of you.

I am looking at one med of mine in particular, and fearing the day I need to refill it.

I also have a recurring infection that I treated with antibiotics when I had insurance, and now am trying various OTC things, the latest being boric acid suppositories. It's working a little, but keep wondering if I ought to go to the doctor again.

Money or lack thereof is always on my mind. I'm trying to enjoy the little things of each day but for the most part, my shoulders and body have a huge block weighing them down.

I tried to talk to two creditors yesterday. One was very nice, the other was so rude she didn't have to be rude. I know I'm the one that can't pay my bills but you could have some compassion.

Something good just happened though. I have like $200 to last me till Sunday and I had to take my son for a check up. I thought I'd have to pay a $30 copayment but it was all covered by insurance. Thank God. Now I have a little more to spend on groceries for the week.

It just feels like it never ends.... I completely understand.

Do ignore the creditors. They will continue to harass you if you don't.

I too am happy you didn't have that co-pay today. Little things like that mean a lot when it comes to buying food.

I hope that things get easier for you.
