Nerves and picking up meds

So, the time has come to refill my hideously expensive medication for crohns. I ordered it the other day and need to go and pick it up today.

No insurance.

NO manufacturer programs.

My SO makes too much for me to get outside help.

I have needymeds.org and another savings card (Dentrite). I have seen prices anywhere from 500 to over 1000 for this med.

-sigh- Been angsting over this for a few days.

Have you tried getting ahold of the manufacturer? Sometimes they will help you... That is a shame to me, especially because it is so badly needed by people. It should be a crime to charge so much. My antidepressants are expensive, I could never afford them without insurance. I feel I am very fortunate to have it. The copays do add up though. But I consider myself lucky...

How long does the prescription last you? A month? Hopefully there will be help for you at the beginning of the new year.

I haven't tried, but I don't think they will. No generic, and they are a small firm. The cheaper sulfa-based meds make me sicker.

I am just going to have to bite the proverbial bullet and pay the money.

Well, I didn't get it. 1047 and change is too rich for my blood. Time to call the manufacturer. I am proud of myself for not breaking down.

Sams Club-1200, before needymeds and other discounts

Walmart-1100, before discounts.

That sounds criminal to me... I hate to see you go without your meds. Maybe you can get some help from the manufacturer. Sometimes they will give you a year free. Can the doctor give you something different? Does the doctor know that you are paying for this out of pocket?

I really hope that you can get some help. Are you joining the Obama plan when it goes into effect? Put something away for your deductible...

The manufacturer gives out a savings card, which shaves about 50 bucks off.

I can use needymeds.org and another discount card.

I am going to Community Action this morning, to see if anyone there can help. All my other drugs are generic, and manageable.

I hope that you can get the price down on your meds. I am sorry you are having to take such expensive medications. Hang in there sweetie. Wish we could take up a collection for you. lol...

Well, a few religious groups have chipped in, and I transferred my prescription to a local small pharmacy that offers lower prices. They got it down to 620. If I halve my dose, I can make it last to 2014.

Not ideal. But when others I came into contact with were looking for assistance with being evicted....
