depressed about denture

hi, my screen name is display.

i'm really down today. i just had denture surgery last friday. it really hurts to put in my dentures in the morning. i know it is a slow process for healing, and i probably just need to be patient. i get really depressed thinking i have to wear this thing every day for the rest of my life.

i also don't know what to do with myself. yesterday i stayed in all afternoon. it got pretty boring. playing on the computer, watching tv, reading and sleeping can only go so far in terms of being interesting. i am on vacation days from work, and i feel like i am wasting them. although really the focus of this week was supposed to be recovering from the surgery.

i'm also scared about going back to work. my speech is different with the denture. i can't talk as clearly as i could before it.

i am just a jumble of anxiety and depression this morning.

I wear dentures, and after a little while, they become a part of you. If they make your mouth sore, go in and get them adjusted. Keep getting them adjusted until they fit right. A lot of people give up before they get them to fit right and don't wear them. Honestly after a little while, you don't even feel them in your mouth. Especially once the swelling goes down. So honey, don't give up on your dentures. You will be so glad you have them, especially if you had bad teeth like I did. It was constant trips to the dentist.
