HELLO EVERYBODY.THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE THAT I JOIN A FORUM.I SUFFER FROM DEPRESSION AND HAVE STARTED TAKING CITALOPRAM(CELEXA) 20MG LAST SEPTEMBER.IT WAS QUITE AN ADVENTURE GOING THROUGH THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF DRUGS BEFORE GETTING THE BEST ONE FOR ME.NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS THAT I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT ME, WHO WAS A THE LEADER ALL MY LIFE COULD EVER SUFFER FROM DEPRESSION.I NOW REALIZE WHAT THIS GODAWFUL SICKNESS CAN DO TO US.I AM A MALE ,IN HIS SIXTIES AND MARRIED SINCE 42 YEARS.IN RELATIVELY GOOD HEALTH,BAD BACK,ACID REFLUX .IT ENCOURAGES ME TO READ THE FORUM BECAUSE I CAN SEE THAT SOME OF YOU PEOPLE SUFFER MUCH MORE THAN I DO.EVEN IF IT WAS SHAMEFUL (FOR ME) AT FIRST, TO ADMIT TO MYSELF(NEVER MIND THE OTHERS) THAT I WAS SUFFERING FROM DEPRESSION I AM SLOWLY STARTING TO ACCEPT IT. I HAVE BEEN READING THIS FORUM FOR MANY MONTHS BEFORE JOINING TODAY AND THANK FOR HELPING ME.

Hi Perfect time,

Is there a reason that you post in capital letters? We had a member with vision problems and he posted in capitals, if you have vision problems, it is okay. But otherwise people think you are shouting, and it can be hard to read... Just an fyi for you...

I am so happy that you are feeling better. It makes such a huge difference in our lives. Medications can take a long time to work, and it can be frustrating, but it sounds like you are getting there.

I wish you the best, keep posting, as it does help a lot!!!

I'm glad you finally decided to join us here. Hope to learn more about you.

I'm sorry about your depression and bad back. You've got that right! Depression can hit anyone at anytime and it is really awful. I'm glad that you are doing okay and finally found one that seems to be working. I hope it continues to work for you.

Hello Perfect Time ........

   Welcome and glad to hear you found a med that works for you.

   I too, back in June, started reading - but on the prostate cancer forum about the time I was considering a certain treatment option. It was very helpful in allowing me to make a key decision at that time.

   I did get involved with the alzheimers forum, the kidney forum and the depression forum as well - because each of those touched my life in a serious way.

   It is an amazing site that keeps a strong amount of anonimity while developing pretty strong friendships and/or support system for those in need.

   I just started a depression med about 10-weeks ago ... and it has worked for me. It's a generic version of Lexpro - 20mg ... and it has reduced my emotional nightmare (at times) that I was on while taking a very common prostate cancer hormone therapy for over two years now.

   Have any questions or need to bi**h about something .... just post it. We're all in similar shoes so to speak.

Welcome! I am so glad you have found some help. It's hard to admit to illnesses, even 'normal' ones. Remember-we are here for you to help.

Thank you all for your feedback.Sorry about the capital letters.my wife suffers from maccular degenerative disease and i sometimes forget that not everyone needs or wants capital letters.I will continue reading and communicating with you because this forum is a ongoing learning experience.

hi mate. jamie here. i use to post in capitals until my eye surgery.(diabetic retinapathy) i had years of laser and intra-occular injections. my eye is much better but i do have trouble reading long posts still. i have very cruel acid reflux. i have pains after eating and all night long. o have pains going down my arms as well. i know where you are coming from. doc tried me on some somac, but when i walk i am laboured and get pains as well, thus i need to have my ticker checked.

welcome to the forum. depression is the pits but it can be managed. i am glad that you are posting. we are here for you. i am in therapy, this really helps me. i have my outlets, mine is music, the main one and i like poetry. i look forward to seeing more posts from you.
