                                     HAPPY NEW YEAR

 

   Cold and snowy here like almost every New Years Day. We had about 3" of snow overnight ... it's still coming down in flurries ... and it's 16 degrees out on a very gray day ......... YUK - typical January day!!!!!

   The roads were nearly empty at 8:15am and they were heavily packed snow ... and slick!!!! A good day to stay in. Need some groceries though!

   Gizzy jumped into the back seat like he always used to. We went on our ride but I saw only one dog - and he didn't see it. BUT, I saw a squirrel that was black with lots of fur. I've never heard of a black squirrel before.

   Yesterday and today, on AMC is a marathon for "The Walking Dead". I watched a couple of episodes last night, but I didn't make it past 11pm ... and no alcohol or snacks at all. I fell asleep and woke up a couple of times thru the night, but Gizmo let me sleep until 8am ..... Good Boy!!!!

   In years past, on New Years Day, I had gotten so sick of 10 to 12-hours of college football ... that it became routine for me to take that one day of the year to re-evaluate and re-write my business mission statement - for most of the past 10-years except the last two.

   I still really miss my little business and working. It's an adjustment I still, at times, have difficulty with.

   Maybe this year, my mission in life will be a 100% acceptance of just where I am in life. It's sort of what JB1 said in her thread yesterday - about positive outlook.

   I hope everyone had a safe New Years Eve ... and have a positive approach to 2014 and minimum obstacles to face this year.

Hey Rob,

Years ago I fed the birds and a lot of other wild animals. I would get all kinds of squirrels. I got little red ones, gray ones and yes, black ones. Once I had a fox squirrel, it was really pretty.

I hope everybody is having a good day today. JB you are such a pick me up... I have a cluttered house too. Gotta get after that.

I hope nobody has a hang over...

Morning all.

JB1 I have been trying to get in a way to clean for a week and my lungs will not allowit. Hope you can get in the cleaning mood.

ROB So glad that Gizmo is back to himself again. I have never seen a black squrial either. Hmmmm well learn something new every day.

KAREN I hope you are feeling better and can also find the cleaning mood too. I wish my lungs would be nice and let me clean at least some of the kitchen but they are notready for that so that a big negative at least today.

Happy new year everyone and hope you all are happy and healthy and just a bit more wealthy today.

I had a little one this AM. Mostly due to the late night prosecco and its interaction with my nighttime meds. Mostly better now--my body always hurts until I get moving. But I am still moving slow.

Nice nosh last night--watched two feel-good movies. Lars and the Real Girl, and then Love Actually.

BF is off doing laundry and I am cleaning up the house, prepatory to starting the turkey and stuff. I almost always de-christmas the house on New Years, but I am leaving our wee tree up a little longer. Everything else goes, though.

My therapist cancelled our session yesterday. I am not super-sad-I am broke until the middle of the month. Just enough money for gas for the car, and will have to use the credit card for medications. But, insurance is supposedly going as of today, so as soon as I get my card...

Have work for the rest of the week in the upper reaches of the county. Loading my car with goodwill donations, since I will be near a drop-off location.

Happy New Years! I hate clutter! Its a huge issue with the kids. I can't stand for things to be left out, the kids have adjusted and understand that its mommy's brain that makes her crazy! Lol. I have been trying to reign it in and make them learn to pick things up after themselves.

The kids crashed before 9 last night so I got to watch some more adult movies. I'm an action movie junkie so I watched Olympus Has Fallen, Boondock Saints, and Warrior. The husband actually watched them with me. That's one of the things we really bonded on. Then the kids got up at 5 am. I am a very tired and sore mommy. The knee has to stay propped up to chest level so that's awkward. I swear as soon as I finally get comfy the kids need me to get up and do something. Is t just me or do kids lose some of that independence they fight so hard to exert when you're sick or hurt?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It is 2014 and I resolve to make this a better year then last (it was down right awful). I have sporadically turned to this forum the last couple of months and hadn't posted since just before Thanksgiving. Things have been better since and December is usually a hard month for me (my mother died when I was 2 right before my birthday). Little of post-Christmas letdown with some anxiety issues, but today is a better day. I am doing some things to hopefully ward off another major depressive episode this year.

1. Saw my doctor and had blood test to determine if I have vitamin deficiency or low tester one (Been very tired lately).
2. Continue my therapy
3. Continue marriage counseling with my wife
4. Exercise more and get back to running races and triathlons
5. Keep myself surrounded by loved ones and friends and reach out in times of need.
6. To post here in good times and bad
7. Seek spiritual counseling from my pastor to help come to terms wit the pain and anguish of the lat year
8. Spend more time with my family and children
9. Be proactive in my care
10. Try and volunteer more and spread good cheer.

I know this seems like a lot. But I know I need to keep busy and moving to ward off depressive episodes in the winter.

Happy New Year All. Cleaning must be the goal for the day. I just finished putting away empty Christmas boxes in the attic for next years gifts. Living room looks better already.

Been to the pharmacy, they short counted my cymbalta again this month. Looks like I will have to count the capsules before leaving the store for awhile. But the pharmacist found the error this time and gave me the remaining 9 I needed. So no issue this month. Yeah!

Hey guys and gals-

Hard day today. Lots of regrets....need to stop looking back! Only look at today and forward. Gosh I wish we could have done counseling. When we talked he told me that in his mind I wasn't trying to get better. I don't know anything else I could have done to try harder to get better. But those words are lingering in my mind.

I hope everyone is de-cluttering. I'm doing my fair share....trying to stay busy.

You know in your heart that you have been trying. Just don't let his opinion of the relationship become rule... There are two sides to everything. You have been trying and you know that in your heart. Other than calling him out on it and asking him just where you weren't trying. I would just continue trying and doing the right things. I think things will fall into place. Remember, he doesn't make the rules in the relationship. Keep moving forward. I can't stress that enough right now.

Staying busy is a good thing. I try to stay busy all the time, at least keep my mind busy. I am on the computer a lot, but I learn a lot while on there, or here I should say. But I found the busier I am the better.

Hello all!

I have only had 9 smokes today and yes I am breathing a little hardbut I was at a pk and a half just 24hrs ago so that is so good. I am going to make 2014 a smoke free year for me.

Found out that my friends sis has the start of lung cancer. Since my friend and her sis dont talk I was the one that told my friend. She took it well but her sis has lied about this before so she can only take it at face value.

I hope that she is lying cause I would hate for my friend to lose her sis to anything.

I will pray anyways for both of them.

Michele: Don't be hard on yourself. As JB and Karen said, you tried and tried. I know it's hard, but try not to let negative thoughts get to you. Hang in there.

Good morning all ......

   Sure hope it's nicer in your part of the country .. or world! We have had a non-stop but fairly light snowfall for at least 36-hours straight. Since early Wednesday morning, we've had 10 to 12" of snow so far ... and it's still coming down.

   The roads are nasty ..... sure am enjoying the all-wheel drive car with snow tires right now. Not even close to getting stuck today ...... yet! The light traffic out at 8am was mostly driving at 20mph in a 35mph area where people are normally doing 40mph.

   Gizmo did go for his ride this morning. I saw just one dog but he didn't see that puppy. The visability is pretty bad here with the constant flurries and wind .... some drifting too. At 13 degrees out - no one wants to go out unless you absolutely have to. I think there are a lot of people taking this day off as a sick day!

   January sucks in Chi-town!!!

   OK - I know I'm supposed to be positive. ???????????? It's pretty outside!

S2S ....... no one likes to be preached at. I know - I've been there before. BUT ..... my step-father (heavy smoker) had a third of a lung removed when he was barely in his 50's. I used to smoke realistically a pack and a half a day for 30-years (then switched to cigars) ... and was rewarded with emphysema. And Spiriva and Advair combined cost is $600./month retail - much less with insurance. And you know Ventolin costs much less but it still adds up. I've been on most of those three for the past 5+ years. Sermon over!!!!!!

UA ...... hope your Mother has been kind to you the past several days.

Michele ....... stop building up your guilt!!! I once went to a couples counselor toward the end of a 7-year on/off relationship not long ago. I should say ... we went! After the 5th or 6th session, we both stopped. The sessions showed us we didn't belong together - even though physical things kept us mostly together. We haven't seen each other for 2-1/2 years. I think about her often ... BUT I know that what we had was too superficial .... and 20-sessions wouldn't have changed that! Stay away from accepting any guilt ... it's the only way to re-build your life!!!

Rob, its "cold" here, too! Of course, Arkansas cold is nowhere near your cold, but its all relative, right? Its 27 degrees today with frost on the ground. We had some frozen rain in the am but that is all cleared up now.

The kids are cranky! Fighting over computer time and generally being stinkers. Poor Izzy never gets a chance to go anywhere on her own. I keep telling them that she will like them more if they leave her alone.

I've got another migraine so I guess its time to call the neurologist. The knee is extra painful today. The kids keep bumping and jostling my leg. I just hope it is a fast moving day cause I am ready for bedtime. The kids never let me just lie down in a dark, quiet room. I love them but today I could use some quiet time.

S25, I think that is a great resolution! I have lost 2 grandparents to lung cancer and my dad almost lost his voice box to cancer. He still smokes and it drives me batty! Think of it as a great gift to your kids.

Michele, you can't make someone work on a marriage. You did all you could do. I hope all gets better for you.

   Seriously ... I can relate to cold weather in the south. Long ago, my family and I moved from the Chicago area to the Clearwater, Florida area. We were there for 9-years and my oldest daughter had her education thru 6th grade there ... and my youngest daughter was born there.

   It took about two winters until 50 degrees there as a daytime temp seemed quite cold ... and the high 20's in winter probably set a record the few times it happened. I know we had 4 mature (10") grapefruit trees and 4-small (1-1/2") lemon or lime trees that we lost the first full Winter there when the temp got down to 25 degrees for just 5 or 6-hours overnight. And the Tampa tomato crop was nearly lost that year.

   YOU'RE RIGHT ........ EVERYTHINGS RELATIVE!

A short one for this afternoon ..........

   Snow stopped here by about noon. I measured 13 to 14" of snowfall in the past day and a half!

   Hope no one is flying thru this area with a stop at O'Hare ..... many, many postponed flights out of here today.

   I talked to my cuz up in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin - and they've had NO snow the past two days .............. what?????

Have a good evening ..... gonna snuggle up with a few episodes of "Covert Affairs - Season 1" tonight .... and have some Orange Beef that i picked up two hours ago!

Sounds like the best thing to do, this has been one hellatious winter. It was very cold here last night, but is suppose to be nicer today. I think that the jet stream went under us here in Michigan...

Its 17 degrees here!! That is crazy cold for us. We are expecting snow with accumulation on Sunday. The kids are very excited about that.

The cold has me hurting but I am used to that. My knee looks like a black and blue grapefruit. I've still got it propped up. I did go and get new glasses yesterday and walking around that small bit wasn't too bad. I'm always worried that if I don't get up and move around the fibro and arthritis will stiffen me up. The migraine is gone for now, I did take some pain meds last night for it so we will see if it stays gone!

Hope everyone stays warm and out of danger with all of this cold weather! I can't imagine dealing with what everyone in the north gets. I did go visit my great grandmother in Michigan when I was child. There was so much snow and it was soo cold! That's about all I remember! Lol

Good morning all .........

   Whatever front that has come thru here the past two to three days seems to have been south of the most northern parts of the midwest. My cousin in northern Wisconsin and it sounds like Karen in northern Michigan have both been spared most of the snowfall in the past 2+ days.

   The snow stopped here yesterday noon with about 13 to 14" of fresh snow. Now, this morning, I found out that my outdoor thermometer in my car does not register below 0-degrees. When checking the weather channel at 8:30am, it was -9 degrees below zero in the western suburbs with a wind chill of -20 below zero.

   I caution those on the East Coast for what's about to come your way.

   I took Gizmo for his morning ride - no dogs until we got back home. And across the street from us, the neighbor was shoveling out a spot in the grass so that his Border Collie would have a place to pee and poo. The drifts here at the sides of the road are 3' to 4' high!

   The roads are much better today ... so grocery shopping this afternoon is in the plans ...... ugh!!!

We got about four inches. Classes cancelled for the day. BF inched home last night. His normal 50 minute commute took two hours. Ah, the joy of big city traffic! We are at 18 degrees, currently, and the sound of snow shovels punctuate the traffic.

I will be messing with insurance stuff today and nephew is visiting, so will head out to Mom's after a while.

I forgot to mention--got a call from a tutoring service. That will help supplement my income! Rah!

Morning all.

18 degrees with wind chill of 2. I feel so bad for the homeless.

John and I just finished the shoveling and now I have a flare of face pain.
Roads are bad with ice so I am staying in today. John is off to work.

Congrats Myself on the tutoring call!

Dogs were out and in; within record time this am! LOL
